I posted that short youtube clip which is about all I can find on the internet regarding what way round a fan sucks and blows.

Can we take it pretty much as gauranteed that what the guy says in the video is very correct ?

Its just that I have fitted another new rear 140mm coolermaster fan to the rear of my case to exhaust the air, I.E suck the warm air out of the inside of the pc.

As you can see like in that guys video too, the coolermaster fans all tend to have a label on one side with writing and model number etc and the other side of the fan has has a nice silver glittery sticker on it, same as the one I have fitted now and the ones I have had in the past.

Normally what that guy says in the video for me has always been 100% perfectly true, but this time because I actually fitted the fan while the pc was still under the table etc (down on hands and knees, lol), I then switched the pc on and to be honest I couldnt really feel a great deal of air from either side of the fan, obviously when I dont this I didnt have the fan up to its full 1200rpm, so maybe thats why I didnt feel the air blow out.

But I just wanted to double check, I installed the fan in order to suck warm air out the pc as I said, and its installed with the shiny glittery sticker on the inside of the case and the part with the sticker with the writing and model number etc is facing outwards towards the airholes on the case.

Is that the correct way right enough and is what the guy saying in the video correct for all fans just like he said it was ?

Just double checking guys, thats all.

appreciate any input at all, thanks ;)

The side with the frame going over the blades is the back. The open side with unobstructed fan blades is the front.

You can also tell which way a fan blows by looking at the shape of the blades.

I think you've put the fan the wrong way round :)

I know fans used to have direction markings on the sides but it is possibly that modern fans no longer do this.

so the side where the frame is, is that the side that blows the air out from there:confused: ?

watch the video again in post 1.

this is the video again > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlgfAO2Jtls

Surely you can feel which side the air blows out from? You can tell the back of the blades from the front which are round, kind of like a wing on a bird.

The air comes out from the side with the sticker that covers the fan motor.

You are correct, glittery sticker inside (for looks), detail sticker on outside (shows model number and other info about the fan motor etc).

There's an easy way of checking this if ever you need to without even opening the case.

1: Take sheet of paper.
2: Hold paper sheet in front of the grill on back of computer case.
3: If paper blows away fan is exhausting, if paper is pulled towards the grill then fan is sucking.
4: Simples :)
