Laptop needed £400 or under

A good mate of mine requires a new laptop for mainly surfing the net, using you tube, emails and all that other basic stuff. Might occasionally run Office 2010 with Excel etc

Gaming wise, maybe champ manager at a push.... Naturally he just wants the best he can get with his money, and needs talking out of getting one from a major supermarket as to me they all seem cringe worthy....

Any toshiba or asus will be fine. Avoid Acer if he wants it to laster more than a year. HP is also best avoided.

Because he didn't want to keep using turds I'd assume lol He just wants something that isn't going to be too taxed by what he does and something that will last a longish time!

The Lenovo G570 with i3-2350M seems pretty decent, a family member got one about a month ago for ~ £380

Also got a Lenovo G570 recently. Got this over similiar spec Toshiba/Asus models as I didn't like the Toshiba's touchpad/finish and the Asus keyboard flexed under pressure. Really like this keyboard, touchpad and gunmetal finish.

Paid about £360 but seen it a bit cheaper since on special offer somewhere.

Spec wise the i3 2350 is great. Paired it with an SSD and this baby boots and loads general apps like firefox as fast as my desktop - overclocked i5 2500k with four times as much RAM lol
