Tyre Prices Make Me Cry

Tyre costs continue to confuse me.

Over the last 3 years my rear tyres have increased in price from £150 to £200. In the same period of time the front tyre size on the same car with 17 inch wheels instead has remained broadly static.

Oh well.

What?

265 is far from super car territory, lamborghini I was in a few weeks ago was 335 wide rears.... On my car I just moved from 255 to 265 to try and help out, even with the best tyres on the market if it's damp its not unkown to spin up into third gear with my 350 bhp / 516ft/lb 3.0 dagagagaga.... Fairly sure the 535d is 275 wide?

worst "ive got more torque than most of the forum combined" post ever.

im not surprised a bit that it spins in third with that number of torque and i doubt the torque delivery is subtle either.

look at nissan gtr tyre sizes. only a sizes off in terms of width compared to the (230bhp?) audi which possibly has quattro too.

that can only be style over substance as that is a huge amount of rubber for a typical saloon car.

Lol Motors.

It can be surprising if you have no knowledge of the tyre market.
The rear run flat tyres on my 1.6 1 Series are £300 each*. I can imagine a few people getting caught out.

*Please don't bash me - I have no problem with this
I'm curious to know what tyres you've got that cost £300 each?

like.

I agree, too many nitpickers on this site lately, for nitpicking sake, it's his money, he can do what the hell he likes with it.

Truthfully, how many of you would not buy the car you wanted because of the size of the tyres it needed? I doubt it would stop any of you. It's tedious reading sme of the crap on these forums these days.
"Like" and agree too.

I've bought my last 4 cars without prior research into how much tyres cost per corner. How in adequate do I feel right now. At the very least I've lost the right to moan about it when the time comes.

So, other than the price of tyres how is the A7? Its one of few audi's that I really like the look of. Cant help but feel the drive wouldn't match up on wheels that size though?

And just as i thought, nobody has confessed so far to not buying a car they were interested in purely because it had the wrong sized tyres ;)

power/torque delivery is actually surprisingly linear thanks to sequential turbos, far less aggressive than any other diesel ive driven

You should create a thread, complaining and crying about it with many cryface smilies.

OP, your posts come across as: a. Whiny and b. hostile. No wonder people have ripped into you with such an attitude.

Man up, deal with it and get on with enjoying your new car. Or sellup and buy a Seat Mii.

(Goes off to research new tyres in 195/50/15) :D:D:D

Is your traction control broken? :p

I'm sure there are plenty of people on this forum who can't warrant the costs of a more expensive / premium car than they have now.

I could have bought a BMW or an old Audi or something, but I decided that I did not want the potential added running costs and didn't particularly want to do that on the cheap.

I do miss having to buy 195/50/15 high performance tyres for about 20 pence per corner, though :D

Over exaggerating much?!

It's almost as if you have to be Jeremy Clarkson or a mechanic for McLaren in order to post in Motors sometimes...

People should just back the **** off the OP.

People buy things without thinking? Oh big deal. Having a whine because prices aren't what they expected? Big deal. Have little or no knowledge of the car you've just bought? Big deal. It's like everyone in Motors like to make a big deal out of nothing. It's becoming more and more of an unfriendly place to post.

*Awaits incoming barrage of "get back in the kitchen" jokes.

As of late? This forum has been full of little men for a long long time now. You have to take the good with the bad if you want open, honest and frank discussion, otherwise it leads to a circle jerk off which you find on a lot of other forums.

There aren't many genuine Trolls, and those that are seem to be really good at it in terms of results. There are plenty of really bad posters who get called Trolls, but in reality they are just terrible people who made terrible life choices and post really badly, they don't intentionally try and wind people up, which is what a Troll does.

The worst are those who run around in old bangers & post photo's of the hire/courtesy car that they supposedly owned at one point in time.

So let me ask you this, in your eyes, what would have been an acceptable reply?
