If memory serves, this is the actual LCD that's taken a steamer isn't it?

Anyone bought a replacement? Recommendations?

It's an original iPad so well out of warranty!

Cheers

I'm pretty sure they'll tell me to do one, or charge me £150+ for a new display, or offer me a PX on an iPad 2 if they're feeling really generous.

I'd rather diagnose the fault and replace the part myself tbh, seems to be the cheapest option if it is the screen.

Ta anyway.

seems a very straight line for it to be the lcd? lookslike graphic/memory corruption? i have no idea on ipads though, anyway to reset it or update the firmware for it?

Even if they did all of the above, you can still say no and what will you lose? At the moment you can't diagnose the fault yourself because you're asking here for help. Honestly, if you don't know what the exact issue is with it, why not just take it in anyway and see if they'll help? It might be something that they can help you with pretty easily.

Yep, I figured the forum being stuffed with knowledgeable folk that it is they would be able to assist to save me a trip to my nearest Apple store (which isn't that near). :)

Looks like it's been dropped and broken the panel.

See I thought that, but the Mrs swears blind it wasn't... :D

I buy everything from a company called Rolta IT, not sure if I can link them here.

Quick google should sort you out.

I've never used part numbers with them mate, I just call and ask for 1st gen LCD ipad screens, they're usually around £45, but the price does differ as with everything depending on when you order.
