The 7970 is not worth 25% more than the 7950 unless you are uncapable/unwilling to overclock.

I would go for the MSI 7950 twin frozr for £240.

I only suggested Sapphire as they have been throwing out some of the best cards this time around. Btw does the MSI 7950 have a dual bios? Something i was going to ask before i got my Sapphire card.

Yes the twin frozr has the dual bios switch.:)

Cheers :) I nearly got the MSI as i have MSI board but having so many reliable Sapphire cards in the past i just cudnt resist :p

Anyway nightfrogs enjoy ur new MSI 7950 when u get it.. and make sure u clock it up to match 7970 speeds or more :D

Also let us know if you get one of the newer batch with the 7970 PCB. If so it will come with 6+8 pin power connectors.

This is one of the reasons i got the one i did 5 weeks ago and it only cost me £260. I thought only Sapphire were doing this with the 7970 PCB's so it'll be interesting to see MSI doing the same thing.

Edit: Is the 7970 PCB only of interest for cooling?

A 7950 on a 7970 PCB is supposed to have more headroom for overclocking since more power is going into the card. I havnt got much further than [email protected] on the core as i think my PSU is limiting my OC but i can do 1100/1625 on stock volts but the card i have isnt the Sapphire model that OCuK have in stock atm.

I wish OCuK wud have more variation of Sapphire 7950's in stock because theres quite a few and the 6+8 pin version is selling well. I read some are geting great overclocks on water with these models.

Saying that the MSI is a fantastic card and i nearly got one myself as my MSI mobo has Live Update 5 which has the option to do the VGA Bios updates as far as i can see :)
