The main point being the fact that SB can overclock better than IB and runs cooler, which is better to go for? Will IV last longer than SB or will they both fade out together?

There's no guarantee SB will clock better, I had a SB 2500k, it's sweet spot was 4.6ghz, to keep it in check with a decent enough low voltage, I swapped to SB, it runs at 4.6 fine, it's most likely being held back by temps now as it is taking 1.320v at 4.6, but if stressed with prime95 temps are mid 80's, not really any improvement either so quite a futile exercise for me lol, I'd say if you can get a used SB at a decent price and it does 4.8 then get it over IB.

Damn I just missed an IB go for £155 is that a good price? I think SB at £130 is good though if I can get to 4.6Ghz. I'm only at 3.2 now on a Q9450 so 4.6 sounds crazy to me.

I think i know where you saw a IB, ebay? They had 4 of em. I was tempted myself but then i was thinking its ebay so er er yes er er no lol a lot, in end i didnt get it ill keep an eye out elsewhere for a 3570k thats more reputable till around the end of aug then if it shows up again on ebay ill snap it up i guess as that seller sells em now and then at that price.

About the cpus tho, ive noticed that a IB i.e the 3570k is 200mhz better than the sandy 2500k clock for clock so if say overclocking a 3570k 4.4ghz is as good as a 2500k at 4.6ghz from what i have read and seen on utube test results. If i can get a 3570k on air cool enough for 4.4 i would be happy with that tbh.

But i hear new sandys arnt that good for overclocking as they used to tho i think they still probs get to 4.6 easy enough just not like 4.8 or 5ghz like they used to be from what i gather was the norm. 2nd hand on on MM might be a good choice if it can get to 4.6 on air i guess for £120 ish if poss. Well thats what id be lookin for if i cant find a 3570k for 150 new or 130 almost new.

Yeah I was watching it whilst googling 2500k vs 3570k. I was gonna get 2500k but now that I didn't get 3570k I wish I did...

I need to do some more research but looks like 2500k is only better if you can get it past 4.5Ghz.

2500k is better at 4.6 or over otherwise the 3570k at 4.4, well thats my reasoning based on what i researched so far.

As after 4.4 or 4.5 i think thats when the heat problems of ivy come in and then u need water cooling to keep pushing past 4.5 ish but im pretty sure unless someone knows different that a 3570k at 4.4 is reasonable as in temps and stability with air cooler which for me id say £30 or better but not a cheap one like 20 or less. I will be getting somit around 30 quid like the i30 cooler as that seems up to the job.

SB isn't better at overclocking that IB. Most can reach a 'higher' clock compared to IB, but the performance won't be as good.4.2 IB will beat/equal to a 4.6 SB.

Also aren't SB chips now supposed to be crap clockers?

IB can easily do 4.5Ghz on nothing special air., so you're looking at rare 5ghz sb chips as a comparison.
