Hey all.

Quick question.

I have a q6600 3.2ghz soon to be a 3570k setup and im getting a bit tired of the room at night after having the comp on all day, being roasting and when its time to kip its just hard to when ur so hot.

I have tried having a window open, a fan on all night, not much helps.

I bought a water cooler for the new setup i duno if that will help put out less heat from the comp overall but worth a try plus it will keep the cpu cool :)

Atm my temp monitor for my room is 25.6 and i had the temp monitor turned on and was in my living room and it was 22.3 or somit. So lol a bit of a climb in my room.

Any ideas apart from just not having the comp on all day lol?

You want the air leaving your computer to be warm. Room temp air leaving the exhaust vents of your system indicates two things. Your computer isn't doing much or the exhaust method in your cooling solution isn't adequate.

Think about it. When heat comes out of your PC where does it go? Into the room. A watercooling system and a air cooling solution will be identical. The only way to keep your room cool is to remove the heat from your room or somehow create less heat in the first place. That means change hardware to less hot components, downvolt/clock and avoid intensive applications such as games (this all will prevent your hardware creating heat) and also open a window which will allow the hot air to escape.

There's no other way around it.

If your room is upstairs note that it will tend to be warmer naturally as that's just what happens to houses in summer.

Opening the window really does make a difference, although I prefer to leave it closed in the summer as the moths just come flooding in otherwise.

like zefan says you need to dump the heat from you pc out of the room so some sort of extraction system pulling the hot air from your psu/case fans to the out side or the loft is about all you can do it will be a hastle for the sake of the few warm weeks we get in the uk not worth it.

I had exactly the same issue when i was running my X6 and 2 X 570's was making the room to nearly 30C and im in a brand new house so mega insulation in the loft and walls. Designed to keep the heat in is not a good thing in the summer.

I swapped all the fans on both gpu's and cpu for a custom water loop and now tbh teh temps are better in my room still gets a bit hot but nowhere near as bad as before.

Before hot air was comming out of every hole in the PC now it only comes from the 360 RAD. its cool exhausting out the top and back.

But as stated above if how air is comming out of your pc then your cooling is working perfectly the only other way i would think to cool your room down is buy a portable air con from argos or summing and put it next to your pc.

My GTX480 dumps so much hot air out of every which what way of my case that it actually makes it uncomfortable to use my PC in hot weather...

But I have to deal with it cos if hot air wasn't coming out of my case, then something is probably wrong.

No matter how you cool, you will always have at least the same amount of heat being expelled, for example your CPU will still kick out the same amount of energy, it's just how quickly and efficiently you can get (or transfer) that energy away.

put a large fridge in the room and leave the door open?

:rolleyes: You don't really understand how fridges (or any sort phase change) work do you? :p

Put a screen on the window so bugs can't get in. Simples. :D

I'm thinking about getting some double sided tape and selotaping the net curtain on to the window frame, so if they do get through the window, only the small ones would be able to escape through the little holes in the net curtain.

If you can't extract the hot air, circulate it. I'm in a similar situation and I've got an 18" fan in the corner of the room. I just put that on low and it makes a world of difference.

In the exterior wall knock out a couple of bricks and fit a extractor fan then hook that up to your PC exhaust via a length of that piping for Tumble dryers and the exhausted heat will be expelled outside.

1: Open a window or/and a door.
2: Buy air conditioning.

They're really the only options for cooling, you can try running lower power hardware so you produce less heat but as far as cooling goes the're the only feasible options.

Have you got much else switched on in the room? A TV, amplifier etc could end up producing more heat than your PC. Also don't forget that the human body radiates around 100watts of heat too. Without air conditioning or an open window, any room will heat up (albeit slowly) just by sitting in it.

Nothing on just 2 monitors, the comp, a tiny amp for headphones connected to pc which im still unsure is any better than direct plugging into the onboard sound lol. The superhub for the net.

Think ill have to start keeping the windows open 24/7 for awhile during the warm weather and try and get the fly net thing back on around the windows. Just even with it on sometimes stuff got through. Tho better than roasting alive i guess lol.

my computer room gets crazy hot too being 2x2meter its small enough to heat up rapidly while gaming luckily the door leads to a large open staircase which is usually freezing so keeping the door open makes a big difference, I also have a big window right beside the tower so there's no problems, I can imagine a similar setup with no window or cold area beside the room being a nightmare cooking you alive.

My bedroom is around 6x4m (guessing really), 2 small windows which open with no vent and opening the door just goes to passage which doesnt help really.

Been thinking i could move the desk and pc in the living room but i need to make space as a bit of a mess lol as i dont go in much with being on my own. But then ill have issues with the net as i got the net installed right where the desk is in my broom tho i do have a long cat5 cable but id rather not have to use it again as it would mean messing up the carpet a bit to get at it. Then theres the prob of lying in bed using a 360 pad when im feeling really lazy and watching anime.
