Huawei Ascend G300

You shouldn't need the Voda sim I don't think. I'd keep it in case though. And then the standard update procedure, phone will still be sim unlocked. :)

Hey guys, how is this in terms of responsiveness? Managed to ruin my Lumia 800 and considering hopping to Android as a stop gap with a Nexus 7 and one of these until the new phones come out. My only worry is my mum has an Xperia X10 which has the same processor as this if I'm right, and it's sluggish as hell every time I see her use it. I realise this might be her being awful at task management and the phone being old, but it's still scarily bad compared to my Lumia 800. If it's easy to get it really sluggish I might just get a lumia 710 and wait for the next round of phones

It might be a step backwards because from what I've seen of the Lumias, all of them tend to be very smooth and responsive.

The G300 when flashed to an ICS ROM is generally smooth most of the time, but it can have its hitches here and there, but in my personal opinion it's nothing that would put me against buying the phone.

Hmm, upgraded to latest firmware on the phone and I realised today at work I have no access to mobile internet?

Went into options and its available, b892 atm so is that likely the problem or is it something else?

edit - hoping I dont need to return my phone as it will annoy me after spending £5 to get it unlocked.

tried factory reset, no joy :'(
My wi-fi works fine and phone reception on my virgin sim etc but cant get mobile internet working. Any ideas?

Edit fixed this
Huawei g300 unlocked wifi working but mobile internet not working on virgin mobile

Enter APN settings manually!

I doubt it. I believe the Nexus S doesn't have hardware accelerated UI as it would make less sense to do so as it uses more memory of which the G300 doesn't have much spare. I could be wrong though.

Jesus that doesn't read well, makes sense to me though! :p

I admit I'm quite a bit out of loop, didn't know ice-cream sandwich was available!
I'm currently on B892, can I just jump up to 934?

What's the best way to do so? Just put it in the root folder and do the volum + and - buttons? I had problems the last time upgrading.

My brother also needs help. He downloaded a chinese version, not realising and now cant install the uk version from here:
http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/technicaIndex.do?method=gotoProductSupport&productId=3940&tb=0

I described the method above and that has failed for him, any ideas? Unfortunately he's not here in person so cant grab the phone and try things out.

Thanks deuse, i'm going to leave it till the weekend so maybe some-one may be along to confirm things.

I'm also presuming this won't relock the phone? As the last update using the volume keys didnt.

Trying to flash ICS for my brother using the dload file on the root of the SD, but I just keep getting update failed after it's unpacked files.

Any ideas?

Might be a dodgy SD card like mine. Try putting all the update stuff on root of internal memory and remove SD card completely. That's what I did. :)

Sometimes the sd cards get a bit "moody",so whip it out and place the dload folder onto the phones internal storage, then turn off...pull the battery....replace it.....press and hold vol -/+ while powering on and it should update. :)

Anybody else's phone eats data?
I'm using onavo count and I'm day 5 and used 37% each month I've ahd this phone so far I've used up my 500mb data limit. On my wildfire I wouldn't ever receive the 450mb warning txt.
Any idea how to reduce it?
The biggest users so far seem to be facebook (88.9mb) and and android "OS + others" (61.1mb) then it's opera at 9.1mb, anything I can do to reduce data?

I'm on an old o2 deal, £15 for unlimited txts, data and then the £15 to spend how you feel (unlike other deals that would remove the £15) if I was to get a data bolt on would this give me extra data or just run ontop of the free data I already receive?
