Yeah heading straight for Crawley.
I was more aiming towards why this particular plane was dumping fuel, IE did it have an engine problem and needed to glide back to London as mentioned?
Dumping fuel over land is obviously a stupid idea.

It is indeed. A mate has an app on his iphone. If a plane flies overhead he can tell you where it is going and get a photo.

Funnily enough, no other planes taking off or landing at Gatwick, is that unusual? There is lots of activity around Heathrow.
