Probably the wrong thread to ask this in, but would you recommend this over the IPhone 4S?
Ive already got a Touch and Ipad2 so dont need the novelty of the App store on the phone... however if I got this phone Samsung III it would be on the 3 Network for their all you can eat data?
Is this wise!
I just moved from the Iphone 4s about 2 weeks ago to the samsung (had the Iphone 4s since launch) and ill never go back to Apple. If youve ever been in a group where 4 of 5 of you are on iphones and they all look the same and youve thought, man i wish i could be different then the S3 is for you. With a ton of mods available to customise your phone to however you like it (green, red, blues, whites, ringtones etc etc) you can change it.
Its this amount of customisation that scares most apple users (ie the options can be overwealming). a lot of the times, i like just pushing this phone to the limit (trying out every rom available lol).
S3
* Larger screen (this is a huge boon over the iphone)
* HD resolution (equivalent to iphone res, however the amoled and pentile seems to add a faint hue, iphone 5 will prob have a much much better screen)
* Roms (and the ease of installing the roms)
* Customisation (you can literally customise everything on this phone)
Iphone 4s
The only thing I think apple have over android at the moment is the app store. Whilst all of the major apps (facebook, youtube, twitter etc etc etc) work on android, there are some funny apps that just dont work well (if not at all). There arent many in this category, and they are usually gimmicky apps (ie im really after a good itunes remote app).
The other issue is when searching the app store. Its not like itunes where if you see one app developer and like whatever it is he has designed, you cant browse all of his designed apps (search function is really poor).
Also when you are just browsing apps, and you scroll down lets say 50 apps and click on one to read the description, going back puts you back at the top of the list forcing you to have to scroll through 50 apps again till you can browse ones you havent seen. Slightly annoying but not enough for me to be a deal breaker.
The iphone is the phone you buy your grandmother (ie requires little support, user cant really break it, and its relatively easy to operate, ie a bike on trainerwheels). The S3 is the phone you get yourself for xmas and smile like a little kid when you open it.
