I'm looking for a portable laptop in this size range, lightweight, long battery life and small. Had a look in PC world and 13.3" seemed about the right size, but doesn't mean I won't consider others. Will be using a mouse, so horrendous track pads or anything don't bother me. I need something for word processing and doing photo/video editing work on. So GPU power is not of consideration, but CPU power is. Also need to use HSDPA, so if that was integrated it would be of benefit, but can always use a dongle if not. Budget of around £800.

Was thinking maybe Sony?

I went into currys yestreday since I was in town and had a look at the ultrabooks and I reccomend you doing it too, The shape and size and feel of the keyboard varies a lot so go in and have a play and see what you like most then search for that kind :)

I'd reccoment a Macbook air or pro, yes they are ridiculously expensve (ebay is your friend) But aslong you arent gaming on it, it will be great, also the samsung and acer (I think) ultrabooks are very nice too.

I have one of those for work, and they have the worst screens and touch pads in the world!

Edit: Although there does appear to be IPS options for it.

Most mainstream laptop screens nowadays are rubbish compared to 5 years ago. IBM/Lenovo dropped IPS screens for about 4 years as they just couldn't get hold of them a sensible price. If you think the standard X220 screen is bad, go check an L420. It's ghastly!
