How Clubbing changed the world

Watching it now on Channel 4 + 1, like poster above says keeps jumping around with musical genres from different decades. Still enjoying it though :)

The show is all over the place. Nice to hear some tunes though, but there was Skrillax and whatever new garbage that was.

Channel 4 made and i assume own the rights to two of the greatest 'dance' music documentaries ever made with 'history of house music' and 'a short film about chilling' but instead they made that rubbish just so they could add the fad that is dubstep and 'urban' into it

2001, Ibiza, the hotel I stayed in was across the road from Space. So the routine was into town on an evening then to a club, come back in the morning, breakfast, clean up. Then stumble across the road to Space for the day clubbing.

On the flipside back in the 90s house and garage was also being referred to as 'a fad'.

/although I'll happily agree dubstep is a load of stinky ass. :p

Dubstep is in its own league of being terrible. I pretty much will listen to every electronic genre I've ever heard, I can't listen to Dubstep - what a mess.

anyone catch any of the house party after it? Watched Grandmaster Flash. Preferred it when he went into his comfort zone and played a more typical set of hip hop but it was mental with the style of records he was dropping in in the first half of the set. Crashed out about 15 mins into Annie Mac but got it all recorded so will watch it later on.

I am not what you would call a fan of dubstep, but have you ever heard true dubstep, and not the stuff that is mainstream commercial 'brostep' as its been coined? Proper dubstep has no mid range sounds, just pure bass and beat.
The stuff you mostly hear such as Nero and skrillex etc is made for the masses to produce cash. Can't blame them wanting to make cash really. Producers don't make jack from the underground sounds.

Got any examples?

Can't decide between 2005 or 2009.....

March 2005 I discovered Slinky @ Opera House at the ripe old age of 22 lol. Was real gutted it got kicked out in Oct 2006. I know its back but nowhere near the same. Also my first festival - global gathering

2009 Global I FINALLY got to see Prodigy!! Plus Pendulum ON THE SAME NIGHT!!! Then Orbital on the Sat night after rocking the hardcore tent all day. Absolutely awesome!!
