Bought a i5 3570k on the bay tonight.

Good seller from his fb score and has sold a fair few. So im hoping to trust that for now.

Now i have reason to suspect he ships from france and doesnt give receipts.

Will this be a issue regarding warranty with intel? I was led to believe as long as you had the box you were ok for dealing with intel direct with any warranty claims?

It was advertised as new and retail. Tho the seller said in the listing all serials are recorded, not sure why like but there you go. So should i be ok, or shall i ask for a refund before posted to me? Had contacted him and asked if he ships from france and will i get a receipt so ill see what he says first on that score i guess?

Edit - lookin a little online it seems you should not need a receipt just the serial off the cpu and the hsf which intel will ask for when dealing with warranty issues. Is this correct?

Not sure whether this is allowed as it refers to trading outside of ocuk, but here goes with my tuppence worth...

I know some companies will only honour a warranty if you buy from a recognised trader (such as ocuk). Not all traders on ebay are recognised by manufacturers (and that would include Intel), so unless you can get them to send a receipt showing where it was originally purchased from and on what date you may be out of luck.

I know who you are referring to and I'm using a CPU from them at the moment.

Regarding warranty, I was of the understanding that without a purchase receipt, which in this case the bay receipt wouldn't cover that you could use the manufacture from date instead for full retail cpu's. (which this is)

I have no idea where the manufacture date is though as I looked everywhere.

good spot.

The other route is saying it was a gift and you dont have access to the receipt - beg and plead a little, most would probably help

Im putting line 5 on the cpu in the checker thing but i keep getting the message that the checker is down. Anyone try it and see if its working for them at the mo?

Is the number needed to check on the retail box? Already have the cpu fitted so can't check it on that.

I tried my batch number on the intel site and it came up with a celeron processor...

Yeah it is a bit more than 3 years, but another person showed me his warranty time and it was around the same warranty as mine and he just bought a 3570k too.
