The Apollo 11 moon landing happened on my 5th birthday, & i sat there with my mum & dad, brother & sister, & all thoughts of birthdays & pressies went right out the window, the world pretty much ground to a halt, & it's all any body talked about.

RIP Neil, thanks for the birthday to end all birthdays. godspeed.

Funnily enough, I think my wife and my sister (who were born 3 days apart) were a result of Apollo 11, both being almost exactly 9 months to the date after the landing.
