Next-Gen Consoles "Quantum Leap Forward"?

I hope the console vendors burn and burn good, Sony first then MS. The hype and claims should see legal action if they are like normal, tired of marketing creating the future and delivering pap.

The graphics card in the Xbox 360 replacement dev units are meant to have a ATI 6670. :p

i heard they were going to be 78** series levels with a 16 core processor.

why would they need a 16 core processor? are we going to be able to do inbuilt recording and rendering or somthing?!

all this is just rumours though until microsoft confirm somthing

lets hope they build it properly the first time round

I feel sad, because I'm really not interested in PC, console hardware, just doesn't hold my attention anymore. I've even forgot the spec of my current desktop rig. I bought a 680 a few months back too. All I do now is use my cheapish laptop now. Not nice when you try and force yourself to do something you don't enjoy anymore, had the same problem with my Golf, got down to 4 Hc, then just stopped after having the best round I've played for a long time. Not nice but I suppose moving with the times is needed to evolve.:(

Sony and others will release them then Apple will make one and take the others to court for IP theft.

After this long of course it'll be a big performance increase. My current desktop is a huge leap in performance from my first gateway 2000 desktop, but I would've been stupid to tell people that because it's ****ing obvious.

The **** stain I left in the toilet bowl this morning would be a quantum leap above the current gen of consoles.

I just wish they just scrap consoles all together..

Me to, i hate getting home from work, flicking a power switch and playing with a bunch of mates without having to deal with all the compatibility BS that comes with a PC.

Consoles and PC's both have different approaches and places in the gaming world, i'm not sure why people can't accept them for what they are.

What you guys seem to forget is that specifications and manufacturing tooling for the next gen consoles are likely to have been decided already, possibly even last year. Considering what is possible when you have a fixed spec to develop for you can get a crapload more graphical goodness out of it compared to having to support thousands of different graphics and CPU manufacturers and specifications. Considering 360 and PS3 hardware was probably finalised almost a decade ago then the games available now look pretty damn good. It's unlikely they'll have to support an output greater than 1080p (even ignoring the suggested PS4 support for 4k) and they won't have to support a lot of the given graphical trickery expected of modern PC games.

If they wanted to they could pack every Xbox with a AMD 78xx or every PS4 with a GeForce 600 series card but that would put the price up. Very few people will pay £500 for the next gen consoles and with cutting edge graphics on board that's how much they would retail for and they would STILL make a loss in manufacture. You may LOL at them but they are VITALLY IMPORTANT for the next wave of PC Games. LOL all you want but if they don't sell, if people don't upgrade then PC gaming will suffer horribly. As PC gamers we need these to sell and do so in their millions as soon as possible.
