Is it possible to clone a sim card? Every source I have says it cant be done, yet I just had an old guy on the phone claiming his neighbour got a text from him that he never sent himself. His account shows he did, but hes adament it didnt come from his phone.

Possible or impossible?

I suspect theres a simpler explanation. While it can be done its not within the realm of possibility for normal every day people.

Technically it's possible but because of the things you need to know in order to clone a SIM, it's only the networks who can really do it. These exist for very specific reasons but arn't a public thing. There's also the "1 path" problem - a number can only be attached to one SIM (the handset is just a conduit) at a time, cloning a SIM and then using it will make the network go all wobbly.

In my experience, if an old person says they didn't do something with a piece of technology, they did, and either don't remember or didn't realize they had done it at all.

I don't know if any networks still do it but in the past you could have one number linked to two SIM cards. For people with two phones. You'd nominate the primary phone and the other would only work if the primary was off.
