At least our defence is playing okay, granted they haven't had much of a challenge but at least we haven't conceded. I hope our goal drought is purely down to our attack not having time to gel together in pre-season.
 
This thread takes me back. United supporters moaning about a defence playing rubbish against a rival team, United supporters accusing a rivals player of signing purely for money and the old Shawcross v Ramsey debate. Just need Liverpool to hit the woodwork 15 times and lose against City and we've got a set.

Yep pretty much what i was going to say, although we havent scored, we also havent conceded so thats pretty good as we tend to concede silly goals at the best of times.

Just need Pod and Giroud to find their scoring boots, the sooner they do the better otherwise its going to be a long, tough season.

Sorry, that reinforces the "panic" or problems for me, why? Because how many times can you go to Stoke without any game plan whatsoever with dealing with the team? How many years can Wenger be in charge, play the same way against the same team and change nothing? How many times can we go there, dominate, win corner after corner and fail to make real chances? A "proper" manager would actually try something different.

I've said this so many times, I don't condone massive spending, I don't care if we go out and replace people with young players on the cheap with potential. Its the TRYING to improve I want to see, not the apathy and continuing to do things we know don't work. Continuing with Diaby is insane, he's not good enough, period. A free transfer 17year old might end up better than him, might end up better than Messi, could be worse than Denilson, trying is better than sticking with something that doesn't work.

We fail to perform against Stoke with a 4-5-1, don't play a ******* 4-5-1 against them then. Walcott is dogcrap against teams that will put the boot in against him, don't even put him on the bench, Stoke want to kick the crap out of us, kick the crap out of them, play a back four of Verm, Kos, Mert, Djourou and every corner send up the biggest most powerful line up we can.

Maybe, just maybe, practice some ******* corners.

The complete inability of Wenger to change things should flat out prove the only way for Arsenal to improve is to get rid of Wenger.

The things Arsenal need to do, or Wenger needs to do to fix Arsenal, are the same ruddy things we needed to do to fix Arsenal 5 years ago. if we did it 5 years ago, we'd be a better team, winning things and Cesc and RVP, amongst others would still be with us.

Lack of practicing/coming up with ways to score from corners, or defend corners, this isn't a problem in the past couple years, its a decade old problem and its gotten significantly worse in the past 7-8 years, and its still not something Wenger tries to fix. He ignores all our major weaknesses, while adding new ones with the players he brings in and ships out.

But the Arsenal fan's grievance is actually towards Shawcross, the Stoke fans is towards the Arsenal fans, not the innocent bloke that got his leg badly broken... It makes no sense.

Of course, but the other player involved in the incident was Ramsey so that's who they'll boo and take their 'frustration' out on. Either way I think it's silly for either set of fans to boo the player(s).

It doesn't make any sense, but it's football fans and quite a lot are dim, possibly even this fella:

I really hope the attacking line can gel together, and also I hope that Gervinho stops getting picked, and Walcott or Ox starts on the right instead.
 
Looking on the bright side, its a more positive start to the season than last season and Stoke away is never an easy game for us.

The team has re-shaped again, and we've lost our star striker. Certain players showed a lot of potential today, its early days and there's a hell of a lot more to come :).

When's the last time we had 2 clean sheets though? We're lacking something in the final 1/3rd yes, but I dare say we coped with Stoke's physicality and aerial threat pretty well compared to most, if not all of the game's we've played against them.

I'd have preferred a win obviously but the team is a work-in-progress at it's hub and unfortunately it's looking like it's going to take more time than is ideal for the understanding between the new players, existing ones, and sicknote Diaby who's now played more football than he did all last season, to develop. If we can avoid losing while this happens at least we're still picking up points.
 
What is Redknapp babling on about, and Neville, Giroud could never have chipped him, he was inches away, and he should have played Ramsey in instead? Firstly the guy marking Giroud was going to make the pass sideways very difficult to not be blocked, secondly, Ramsey is probably our worst player infront of the goal, outside of 2-3 games in the past 2 years infront of goal he is horrendous. Pass that to Ramsey and its almost certainly not a goal.

As for Arsenal controlling them, Stoke created the best chances, Stoke put the ball in the net and it was only the idiot being slightly offside that caused it, not our defending. But Stoke are rubbish upfront, Crouch is rubbish, we didn't win an awful lot against him, they didn't get it too him that much.

Agreed and same with Diaby, he should never be on the pitch let alone in teh squad...bloody Wenger and his stupid perservance with that donkey.

Losing against Utd, Pool and a draw against Newcastle isn't worse than drawing against a crap Sunderland and a crap Stoke.

True i thought we dealt with Stoke pretty well as they can be a very physical team and their aerial threat can be dangerous. Like i said our defence seems to be pretty rock solid at the moment but the sooner our front line starts firing the better.

One things for sure, it would definitely help ease my stress levels:p

Will be a miracle if Liverpool get a result from this game, kinda feel sorry for them having to play City so early on in the season.

Going for a 2-1 City win.
 
The stress from lolarsenal defending and conceding truly stupid/soft goals is worse, I won't miss that if we stay lean in terms of goals conceded (less than all the other top 4 teams so far!)

Still, deffo need to get another face or two in before Friday.
