Hi there, I currently own a soc GTX 480 which i would really like to pair in sli but im am finding it imposible to get an identical card. Is it possible to pair it with another 480 from gigabyte i.e the windforce x 3 480? And will that just cancel out the overclock on my existing card?

P.s If anyone has a soc 480 from gigabyte I will make you a reasonable offer for it.

You can pair it with any other gtx480. Your cards will run at the same speed as the lower clocked card. You can just overclock the lower clocked card up to compensate though.

Do you think another 480 could really do a 120mhz boost? Seems unlikely due to heat. I know the windforce cooler on the gigabyte 480 is quite good but 700 to 820 mhz is a fair jump

Even if you can not get the second card up to 820mhz going sli is still going to give a very big performance boost.

It may also be an idea anyway to run both cards at 700mhz to keep the heat/fan noise in check.

actually Im not sure I do, on an infrequent basis the screen will flash black and then comeback with the dashboard telling me that the display driver has crashed but recovered. This has happend through 5 different display driver iterations. Do you think this could be because of an unstable soc card?
