Hi all,

My origin account has been hacked :(

Someone has taken my account, reset the password and changed the email address that the account is registered to.

I'm worried that my card details are saved on there, but I can't log in to check. Can someone check if their details are saved on their account please?

What can I do about this? When I go to their help page I need to log in, which I can't.

Are you getting a "password or email address not recognised" message when trying to log in? It done this with me earlier, so i requested a password validation key to be mailed to me, then i reset my password and got in ok. Origin throws hissy fits like this, particularly after updates to it.
 
Get in touch with EA asap. I'm sure they have online help, with a direct console IIRC, so just explain the situation and once they see the changes took place recently they should at least block it until everything is resolved.
 
I got two emails, one saying my password had been changed and the other saying my email address had been changed, now I can't log in because my email address isn't right.
 
As Proto says, get in touch with ea support, your situation is different from mine. Best of luck with this.
 
the first thing you should do is get in touch with your bank ASAP to see if any payments have been made through origin and if so, cancel your cards!

I got this aswell.
 
I have moved all of my money from the account my card is on to one that doesn't have an account associated with it for now.
 
If the card you used for origin is still active and linked to origin then ppl could still buy games even if no money is in your account due to banks letting places do that and it will make you overdrawn and in debt.
 
I've managed to get back on now thanks for an EA rep on Twitter.

The hacker is a Russian playing as [DOA]Vitasik_75

He is still playing on my account right now and has been for the last 4 hours.

They have reset my stats and remove all my friends :(

Be thankful it's only a game!

Weird though. They should send you a confirmation via email to change your password and email address. Change your email password, and all the others asap. And not from the infected computer of course.

Perhaps the '75' is his birth year, meaning you're dealing with a veteran.. Be careful, lest you wake up in a Moscow hostel bathtub with more than your credit cards missing! :eek:
 
Looks like it wasn't a problem at my end. But they "cannot discuss internal information, but are launching further investigations"

They gave me max veteran status and all of the unlocks if I want them as an apology.

you would think even the most basic security would stop the email address being changed within x days of the password being changed...

your account can still be stolen but you can get it back straight away with a "i forgot my passwword email me a reset link" option....
