Guys i have a EVGA GTX670 (reference) that overclocks to 1320mhz boost but have a feeling im sort of missing out for some reason.

It has a full cover ek waterblock on it at the present but waterblocks dont seem to do much for the GTX670 as it is voltage locked.

Now im thinking of selling this and changing to a 7970 for high clock speeds and benefits of watercooling.

What should i do ?

It might be marginally faster but I doubt you would notice the difference if you switch to a 7970. Maybe worth it if you are at 1440/1600p or using multimonitors but it sounds like a lot of hassle for a minimal performance gain.

If I was willing to invest in a GPU waterblock I would have gone for the 7970 instead.
Losing money by selling on the block (full cover?) and 670 to buy a 7970 and block will see a measurable performance increase, but only you can tell if it's a justifiable performance increase for the cost. Most would not.

IMHO
I think you should only get it if you don't like your current card, Run high resolutions or if you mod skyrim

Well when my 670 comes tomorrow it will be going right back for other reasons
I going for 7970 or 7950 instead

I moved from a 670 (1360 boost) to a 7970 and don't regret it, I moved due to the stutter bug.

Performance gain was minimal but I'm having a lot more fun clocking the 7970 then I did the 670.

7970 lightning, hit 1280/1800 easily on air and have the voltage headroom to head north of 1300/1800 once it's watercooled.

If you do it go for the High end MSI's, they seem to be the best overclockers

See this HAWK 7870 on the stock cooler, 1350Mhz to 1380Mhz on the clock http://www.overclockers.com/msi-r7870-hawk-review

The average max for a good 7870 is 1250 to 1300. That 3DMark 11 score is deep into GTX 670 territory as you will know, this from a 7870.

I moved from 7970 crossfire to 670 sli due to driver bugs and find them faster/smoother @ 1440p

Maybe you would be better off getting a second 670 ?

Bonkers, keep the 670, very much doubt anyone is seriously going to tell the difference without a fps counter?

I was very careful in using the word "measurable" to indicate a benchmarking environment. As I said, he must decide for himself if the use justifies the cost.

Nvidia > AMD Is just silly. I sold my 7970's and lost a lot of money by doing so but after getting 680's couldn't be happier as the drivers are.... 1000x better and at least support things i want to do.

Going Nvidia to AMD is like going ferrari to fiesta.

Just dont do it.

Moar fanboy much?

Yeah mate had x1800xt 4870x2 6970 CF and 7970 CF yet in between all of them cards bought a 580GTX and 680 GTX

nvidia fan boy?? ok. ***No personal attacks***

The fact you people cant just accept that AMD's drivers are awful makes me lol

Carry on paying for cards which retail at nvidia's prices yet 4 months later half in price.

I accept that AMD drivers are bad for those who haven't got a clue about installing them as many don't have any problems at all. It's just the same old clap trap rolled out to tarnish AMD's name. Hope you're happy with your 680.
