Ok I realise, there will be millions of answers for this, 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other and all that.

I want a scope that will let me view and take pictures of planets and the moon, maybe some viewing of everything else.

Not after a master of 1, but a jack of all trades (I know there is a trade off)

Budget: £300-400

Needs: The ability to attach my 5D mk2 to do some astronomical photography.

Motorised mount to find objects and to take long exposure photos

Hit me with your ideas.

PS: I know there are astronomy forums but I want OCUK opinion, this is a hobby and not an obsession, so to speak.

The SkyWatcher Skyliner 200P Dobsonian telescope comes highly recommended for around the £300 mark. They also come with Direct SLR camera connection. Make sure you've got the room though they're not small! link

An obsession? You're saying you'd rather have the opinions of people with less experience? Look, people who go on astronomy forums do is as a hobby too. Amateur. "For the love of." It may well be a hobby, but it's still a lot of money. Get over yourself and go and ask on SGL for help :p
