Hi, I recently hooked my PC up to my Samsung smart TV but have discovered a small problem.

When playing games I have noticed that when I pan or move around there is a purple coloured outline around vehicles/people/objects.

I'm using a Toxic 5850 on my Samsung 40" Smart TV at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Any ideas why this is happening ?

In my experience, it sounds like your using an unfinished version of the game, or the GPU is maxxing out and unable to display fully.

It happens with every game, from Saints Row 3 to World of Tanks, I'll try and post a screen shot.

It doesnt appear in screenshots. Either because the capture isnt fast enough (it freezes the game for a second while it's saving) or maybe because it's a display problem with the TV rather than a PC hardware or software error.

Like I say, there is no problem until the camera/crosshairs pan and then you see a violet/purple outline on all objects until stationary again.

Weird, guess I'll have to live with it...

Could be just the TV. Try fiddling with stuff like dynamic contrast or overdrive/anti-ghosting settings. Perhaps see if you can run at specific resolution with no processing/overscan. Try different colour level settings.

Of course you should also try a different screen to completely rule out a video card issue.

most likely due to the hz setting as above, on the tv. I get mad tearing if I turn my samsungs "100 hz" mode, which isnt true 100hz, on while having vsunc on, or using an xbox on it.

What hertz would you recommend I run at ? As far as I can tell I only get an option of up to 60hz in Windows.

Sounds like ghosting to me, could be caused by a setting on the TV itself. Does it have something like a 'Game Mode'? If so turn it off.

I recommend setting your tv to not have any of the "speed up" "anti ghosting" or "smoothing" stuff turned on. Just turn it all off while in a game, one at a time, and see what happens. If you go through them all and it doesnt change, then we know its something else :)
