There are people who probably believe every mainstream conspiracy theory there is. This is probably due to number of psychological reasons to do with detachment with society, self-importance and paranoia.

Then there are people who will immediately dismiss any sense that order is becoming disorganised (corruption, conspiracy). This is probably due a denial of social responsibility and a comfort that the information one receives through mediums of authority (coroner reports, political speeches, stories from parents) represents the absolute truth.

Then there are those in between, who seek the information and make they're own opinion on the truth of the matter with the consideration of evidence or the lack thereof, that supports or opposes certain theories.

I don't want to make this thread about why people react the way they do to disorder. I just thought it would be wise to set out the types of people you can get in these situations so that readers can hopefully become the latter of the 3.

Anyway, I actually wanted to make this thread to share opinions, evidence and inklings of cover-ups, conspiracies and assassinations. There have been previous threads, but they where more geared towards mysteries such as unexplainable natural phenomena. I have read through some of them, there's some pretty cool stuff there.

I'm going to start with something that I read about a couple of years ago: The allegations that the CIA were involved in drug smuggling in the USA during the 80s and 90s.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegations_of_CIA_drug_trafficking

A large part of this revelation was due to the work of investigative reporter, Gary Webb. He committed suicide in 2004 by shooting himself in the head. Twice. Yes, I concede it's possible to shoot yourself in the head and still have the composure to do it again.

There are also allegations from a CIA contract pilot named Robert Plumlee that the CIA regularly flew drugs and weapons into El Toro Air Force Base, California. The commander of the base, Col. James Sabow, committed suicide with a shotgun in 1991. However, there is evidence to suggest he was injured before the trigger of the shotgun was pulled. Some people suggest that he was about to blow the lid on the CIA operation at his base.

And it's of course possible that the smuggling is still going on today but I haven't seen any evidence to support that. I haven't looked extremely hard though.

I'm thinking of buying this book to read-up more on the matter:

I've got a few more subjects but I'm not posting them all tonight! Anyone got anymore?

Do Governments sometimes perform unethical actions, including killing their own civilians and military personnel? Probably, yes.

Is the world run by New World Order lizards based in Area 51? No.

I'm leaning more towards undeniably, yes than probably, yes. Nazis are probably the best example.

The ricin pellet In the umbrella assassination is always my favourite "espionage"story.

Since there's no question that one is true, I'm not sure of your point? The pellet was recovered, ricin traces were found in it, and after the Iron Curtain came down, ex-secret service people from Bulgaria confirmed the story.

Some think Dr David Kelly.

The circumstances make it appear like something right out of a book. Due to this some people think that MI5 et al would never make it that obvious ergo it was suicide.... Maybe they did do it like that for this very reason

:p

Some think Dr David Kelly.

I find this one of the most plausible cover ups. Both of the paramedics on the scene question the official verdict as do a number of doctors and pathologists. A freedom of information request revealed that the knife had no fingerprints on it.

I'm undecided. It's by far the most compelling conspiracy theory I've seen.

I think on the balance of probabilities, Dr David Kelly was murdered. There is evidence that supports both suicide and murder, but the evidence that supports murder is greater. For example if it was actually a suicide, Kelly would have been the only person in Britain do have died that way in that year.

However in regards to the knife, it was reportedly covered in gaffer tape that would have made it difficult to retain fingerprints. If it was indeed covered in gaffer tape, then the tape should have been removed and forensically examined to find out what sort of environment the knife was in at the moment it had been taped up. The knife was also reported to have been Kelly's since he was a child.

He was also reported to have been writing a book about the misleading accusations in the run up to the Iraq war. If so, what happened to the manuscripts?

But, the pathologist who performed the post-mortem claims this was a "textbook" suicide.

He was also reported to not have the physical strength/dexterity to make the cuts.... who knows.

Check this out, a bit boring but it gets in to CIA planes flying drugs in under Clinton. It's actually quite convincing.

I reckon it's still going on today. Look up the "fast and furious" and "gunwalker" scandals. The US gov was supplying thousands of weapons to the Sinaloa drug cartel, although they claim it was a sting operation. OK... thousands of people killed by the 2,000 guns that end up in cartel hands... great sting operation guys. That stuff is all documented.

The conspiracy theory is they supplied the weapons so their "approved" cartel could kill off the smaller cartels.

One thing i don't get about these cartels though is that they always seems to be buying guns and military equipment, spending many millions, don't they have enough by now, they must have a huge stock or unused weapons. Why do they need these extra 2000 guns.

They may be drug running murderers but they are human and therefore are not infallible. Ever bought stuff you didn't need? Ever been food shopping whilst hungry? Over compensation and impulsive buying will always exist, whether you're on benefits in a council flat, to whether you're the richest person in the world.

I see what you did there. To my understanding, Wikileaks has a team that tries to sort through the trash. But how can they determine what's trash and what isn't?
