AMD have really got their pricing spot on, these prices for stupidly fast 7900 cards is pretty legendary to be honest and sales are proving so as they are selling like hot cakes and we've got plenty to go round. :D :D :D :D :D

I ordered a 7950 Vapor-X yesterday afternoon for £259.99 and it hasn't even shipped yet

Don't suppose theres any change of getting the reduced price on that?

Meh, I see you raised the prices of the 7850's since yesterday. I went into town today to add funds to my bank just to buy a 7850 2GB and now I'm literally 90 pence short since realizing you raised the prices..

If it was my £250ish, 7950 everytime. :)

I'm due a major upgrade but am still half asleep so my question is how does one choose between the 3 7950s'. Am I missing something obvious ?

I thought the sapphire OC editions were at either 900 or 950 clock? Calling the one running at 810 an OC seems rather confusing?

Fabulous prices. If my Monitor was back from RMA I'd grab one of those. Damn you Samsung hurry up! ..and Damn you OCUK :p

I was reading about those Flex Cards yesterday - I still don't understand what they do.

11196-10-40G - Is 900Mhz and quotes a Dual Bios Chip.

The one that OCUK have is:

11196-01-20G- 810Mhz. No Dual Bios mentioned.

Maybe the description needs updating.

It would be Vapor-X > FLEX > OC.

So basically there is no point in getting the FLEX (sorry Gibbo) whilst the Vapor-X is the same price. The Vapor-X has a better cooler and will most likely overclock further as a result.

Sapphire FleX Technology
3 DVI Eyefinity Out of the Box – Targeting maximum flexibility with minimum outlay, Sapphire FleX Technology simplifies AMD’s multi-monitor Eyefinity solution by allowing 3 X DVI monitors to be connected to the board ‘out of the box’ WITHOUT the requirement for expensive DisplayPort monitors or Active Adapters.

Amazing value. If I didnt need an Nvidia card for 3D, I would snap up the 7950 in a heartbeat!

Although not debating if getting one of the 6xx is worth the extra, just for 3D (if and when I use it).

Don't AMD cards do 3D these days?

Yes they do, with Tridef.

I bet this question has been asked before, but with AMD improving their drivers, what is better?

The research I've done so far tells me, the 3D depth/effect etc is far superior with AMD/DDD/Tridef, but Nvidia allows more compatibility. But most of the stuff I've read on this is from 2010.

I don't mind tinkering with profiles to get something right for my favourite games.

So would AMD be far superior in 3D than nvidia 3D vision 2?

May start a topic on this.

Looks like the 7950 Vapor-X has 2x 8-pin power connectors according to Sapphire's website but then they got the specs for my card wrong? Gibbo?

*2X150 Watt 8-pin PCI Express power connector is required.*

http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&pid=1547&psn=&lid=1&leg=0#

It probably uses 8+6-pin though you'd think Sapphire would actually get their own specifications correct

Kind of wish i had waited for this version but my Dual-X 950MHz model is still awesome :)

Nice prices there Gibbo! :D

Edit.. @majnu, 11196-10-40G is the model i have and is 950MHz on a 7970 PCB with the Dual Bios.. also has 8+6-pin power connectors. 11196-02-40G is the 900MHz version IIRC.

I think Sapphire have gone overboard this time around :p

Did you get yours from Overclockers? Assuming you did, maybe Gibbo's team need to update the webpage and the picture. :)
Have you overclocked yours?

Didnt get mine from OCuK but i'm thinking Gibbo would physically look at the card to verify specs.. i'm just checking :)

Yup i overclock.. check the 3DMark11 thread.. i think i'm in joint 24th place with a 7970 last time i looked :D
