Thread title makes it sound like an adventure game book.

You turn the corner to see the plane is leaving for the run way!! Do you?

- try to flag down the pilot if you have the 'airport flags' (go to chapter 23)
- tell the nearest police man (go to chapter 103)
- jump into the engines of the plane (go to chapter 177)

Hmm... *turns to 177*

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

lol nitefly you are cute :D

Hope all is well with this story and it turns out to be a misunderstanding!

As it's turning out to be a false alarm and Schiphol and Munich had their WWII UXB issues in the last 24 hours I'm going back to this footage i posted above of the 550lb bomb they detonated in Munich last night

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-19408929

The size of that explosion!

Now look at this photograph of some of the major RAF bombs of WWII (I know the UXB was a US one but at the lower weight end they were very similar)

raf-bombs.jpg

The bomb was of a similar weight as the small one at the front! Now imagine a 1000 bomber raid dropping incediaries and bombs ranging from 500lb GPs and MCs through the weights to the 4000lb HC 'Cookie'. How people survived and cities continued to function is just amazing.

An estimated list of the ordnance dropped by the RAF in WWII (from 'Bombs Gone' by John A. MacBean & Arthur S. Hogben) to give you an idea of the distribution of bombe types:

4 lb incendiary, 80,000,000
30 lb 'J' incendiary, 413,000
30 lb Phosphorus, 3,000,000
40 lb GP, 42,939
250 lb incendiary, 7,000
250 lb GP, 149,656
500 lb MC, 403,000
500 lb GP, 531,334
1,000 lb MC, 253,800
1,000 lb GP, 82,164
1,900 lb GP, 2,141
2,000 lb AP, <10,000
2,000 lb HC, 28,633
4,000 lb GP, 217
4,000 lb MC, 21,000
4,000 lb HC 'Cookie', 68,000
8,000 lb HC 'Super Cookie', 1,088
12,000 lb HC, 193
12,000 lb MC 'Tallboy', 854
22,000 lb MC 'Grand Slam', 41

That is seriously scary stuff... Those bombs are insane. Truely terrifying after seeing that single explosion of a 550lb one!
