Guild Wars 2

Just read a article where Mike O'Brien stated that if they got to a point where high sales was ruining the experience for everyone then they'd "Just turn off Sales" LOL

Yea, sure you would Mike O'Brien.

I want to join the guild but i want my gf and mates with me, and they aren't part of OcUK so how would that work?

If its us you referring to they more than welcome just get them to email me.

If not us I'm still sure they would be just as welcome.

How you finding the game Tomb? Based on our previous mmo chats it strikes me as o e you would enjoy?

You guess right, so far I am greatly enjoying it. Would enjoy it a whole lot more if I could get into the WvWvW though. Queued for it for 7 hours yesterday without managing to get in, not sure if its something I am doing wrong or just something wrong with the queuing or what.

My biggest grumble was that it was awkward trying to keep a group together through the overflows and what have you, but that seems to have been largely fixed now so happy in that regard.

I do still have a few niggles, like for instance I would like to be able to change the chat channel colours, traditionally I always have guild chat in green and its bugging the hell out of me not having it in green. I would also like some way to put "notes" on the map for future reference. But those are minor things which may well be addressed.

Loving the whole run around and just do whatever aspect, much prefer it to the speak to NPC with indicator over his head, kill 5 bungiejumpers and return to him for reward etc. Absolutely love being able to dye my clothes anywhere at anytime just using the interface. Love the deposit to bank from anywhere option. Loving the aesthetics, there are some really fantastic screenshot material places.

Would like to see a few more skills on the classes, but I imagine those will come in time with patches and expansions or whatever. Loving how helpful other players are, people always willing to come over and revive you and so on.

Its a touch laggy at peak times and has some stabilitity issues, but its first week of release and populations are at max because of that, so thats understandable and I can live with that. Loving the emblems on armour etc, reminds me of Daoc with the emblems on armours etc, hoping you can have cloaks with the emblems on like in Daoc too.

Overall, very positive, since the partying issue was corrected my missus has become firmly addicted and has been putting in massive amounts of hours (like 7 or 8 a day) just running around gathering as much of every crafting resource as possible for my guildies. Looking forward to introducing her to WvW (I'm only really interested in the WvW, not overly interested in the esports version of the pvp, its the more daoc like WvW that perks me :) )

I got up at 5am saturday morning, and played roughly 12 hours a day, except for Tuesday where I played about 6 hours, and I hit level 80 midday on Wednesday with a /age of 45 hours.

A few tips below if you're struggling.

Leveling is very quick if you play with a friend or two (or meet some people as you level like I did) because of how xp works there isn't any sharing, same with events so if there are 3 of you, that means things are (on the whole) happening 3x quicker and you're getting 3x the reward.

If you want to level quickly then don't waste time completing zones early on, hit up the easy objectives such as hearts you can complete at the same time as nearby events, once you're high enough level move on.

Identify events that are farmable, i.e. in Frostgorge sound there's a long chain of events, by the time you have done that and a couple of other events in the area, the first event of the chain is generally ready to be started again, did 3 levels in 1 hour 15mins using that circle.

You won't get enough XP solely from 1 zone, either explore multiple zones of your level range to get you through, or do as I did and boost you XP with WvW or Crafting.

Bother with crafting!!! Really nice XP, I out-leveled my crafting pretty early sadly because I could have hit 80 a lot quicker if I hadn't.

In truth there's no rush to 80, aside from a few dungeons that I have no one to do it with, I'm down-ranked everywhere and spent most of my time yesterday running around 1-15 zones farming Jute and working on my World Completion. (my next objective).

Are there any level 80 dungeons to farm for gear or anything (I know it will be cosmetic).

I have a long way to go till 80 but I'm wondering what I'm going to do once I get there. I'm probably too used to WOW but I feel like I need something to work towards.

Will my card details still be attached to my account?

And I can't find a number?

Your card details shouldnt be stored, i thought they were computer specific, much like saved passwords.

Like on World of Warcraft, when i lent my friend my account, all of my card details were missing when he logged in =]

If you pop over to lions arch and check out the vendors near the WvW portals you can see the sort of gear you can get through dungeons. Level 80 you'll basically be doing explorable modes which give tokens for gear.

Some of the level 80 gear looks absolutely stunning.

Sponge,

Not aware of an CS number for ArenaNet, you just have to open a ticket with them on the official website.

Quick noob question but how does your home world selection affect things?

I've started last night and selected "Gunnars Hold" and a mate of mine is looking at getting into it soon but I want to make sure we can still play in co-op even if that world is "full" by the time he signs up??

Plus, it says you need to pay to change in the future - why would you want to do this??

Thanks guys...

Players must be on the same World to play WvW together.
For playing regular game, it makes it easier to be on the same server to meet up. Currently players can freely transfer between Worlds however in time this will require a fee, but you'll still be able to use the Guest feature to play with friends on different Worlds.
Worlds have an impact on the Guild you're in. If you're on the same World then you all benefit from pooling Influence and the Guild Upgrades. If you're not you will still be able to access the same Guild and Guild Chat but you'll have your own Influence pool for your World and Guild Upgrades.

Why would you pay to switch? If you decide you don't like the server you're on or find friends/a Guild on a different server you want to join up with.
It is mostly to discourage people from jumping around Worlds, there is also a delay to switching of a week or so to stop people moving Worlds to benefit from WvW bonuses.

Been looking around at prices for this game, majority seem to be £37-39.99. Anyone know any cheaper retailers and would be kind enough to share that information with me? Before I make the plunge : )

Pretty sure I replied to you this morning, there were a few so I forget ...tis the age :p.

If not just yell at me in game, if I have welcome to the guild :D

nah no email came through mate. I did try to message you last nite but it kept coming up with a guy with your name but 'Top' in front of it?? Don't know if that's you or not??? :)

Decided that I just couldn't resist taking a piccy..

I'm a bit of a completionist, just finished all the 15-25 areas, though I am almost level 40, I'm in no rush though (unlike some people) just plodding along, exploring, enjoying myself..

Stuck on a stupid US server though, as the other half wants to be there for her 'guild'.. oh well..
