tempting new mx-5

Just had an e-mail from my local dealer with a very tempting new MX-5:

Following the success of the Mazda MX-5 GT4 race car in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, Mazda UK and Jota Sport will be building customer MX-5 GT4 race cars to order for the 2013 season.

oooh, sounds promising...

320bhp MX-5 GT4 is eligible for domestic and continental GT & GT4 championships
MX-5 GT4 defies convention proving more than a match for Lotus, Aston Martin and Ginettas

very, very promising

Built by Jota Sport, the Mazda MX-5 GT4, weighing in at 1,000kg, will cost £125,000, excluding VAT, and is now available to order for the 2013 season. The car will benefit from further development during 2012 and will be a fully homologated car for GT4 racing.

I think i'm having problems with my vision or having a stroke because i read that as £125,000 for a Mazda MX-5..

Buy an MX-5 and spend a heap of time, money and fun modding it yourself?

£150K for an MX5? No way.

The stats aren't bad but it doesn't seem to be a huge amount of performance, or car, for the money.

It is a full house race car and is price competitive with other cars in the category. A friend of mine was involved with this program and racing the full house works version as well as the watered down look alike.

They are doing a road going MX-5 GT with ~200hp, ITBs and tweaked suspension, still pretty expensive at c. £30k

Its not been confirmed still which is a shame, but it does seem a little steep price wise...

It's clearly something you buy if you wanted to enter an elegable race series, so spending your money on something like an 150k F430 instead isn't really an option......
