My first self build, Budget:1800

I just want as future proof a PC as possible really.
I play a lot of mods and Would like to add mods which make games look better (graphics mods) so that's why I would like such meaty graphics cards.
And whats the cheapest monitor I would get away with for 2560X1600 ?
yet If I don't really need one of them moniters I'd rather stick with the dell ultra sharp 24"
I am happy once the PC can run the games and I can see something decent on the screen.
I just want a way to cool my processor since my ram has big awkward fins on it which stops a normal fan fitting over the CPU.

To be honest I am frightened I will mess up this build and I really don't know whos advice to trust.
MY friend whos meant to help me build this has moved to another city and my other friend , I don't know if i can trust him not to mess up my build if he helps.
I do not want to buy a ready made PC though, I think they are a rip off money wise.

I hear you mate. It's difficult when there's a whole bunch of guys telling you how to spend your money :)

Saying that though, how about this?:

YOUR BASKET
1 x DGM IPS-2701WPH 27" LED Widescreen Professional Monitor - Black £319.99
2 x Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X OC 3072MB PCI-Express Graphics Card (11196-09-40G) with FREE Sleeping Dogs PC Game £254.99 (£509.98)
1 x Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £251.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Professional - Retail (FQC-00133) £169.99
1 x Samsung 256GB SSD 830 Notebook/Apple Series SATA 6Gb/s KIT with Norton Ghost - (MZ-7PC256N/EU) **BTS £20 CASHBACK** £155.99
1 x Asus P8Z77-V Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £145.99
1 x Silverstone Strider Plus 850W Modular '80 Plus Silver' Power Supply (SST-ST85F-P) £110.99
1 x Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1156/1155/1366/AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+/FM1) £59.99
Total : £1,741.40 (includes shipping : £13.75).

I added a 27" 2560x1600 IPS screen which will unleash those GPU's. @1080p, they're overkill tbh. Nice, but overkill.
The air cooler will do a great job with zero hassle, and will be ready for when you do decide to give overclocking a bash (and you will at some point. Trust me ;))

I also stayed with I7, but tbh, you might as well go for I5 if it's mostly a gaming build. Future proof with the I7 if you must :)

Will that cooler fit in my case ?

This is my case YOUR BASKET
1 x Cooler Master HAF 922 Case - Black £94.99
Total : £106.69 (includes shipping : £9.75).

It'll easily fit in there mate. My case (Bitfenix Shinobi) is narrower than yours and it gets in just fine.

The Phanteks that Idleman suggested is a great cooler. Slightly better than the K2, but we're only talking about a couple of degrees here. Nothing you'll ever notice unless you live to run benchmarks and make bar charts.

The only problem is that you won't be able to fit it with your ram unless you move the fans to middle and back positions rather than having them at front and middle.
That wouldn't compromise performance by much, if anything though.
There's also the reports of fan hum too.
I can personally vouch for the virtual silence and performance of the K2 which is why I recommend it :)

I am a newb What sort of screen do you recommend ?
some help instead of laughing at my newb ways would be helpful. lol

What? It was already covered in the first page that spending £700 quid on GPU's is ridiculous. There's no need.

Get a 670 2gb or 4gb - people say you don't need 4gb, i personally think games will be become more vram hungry. Up to you though.
Get a 24inch Ben Q 120hz monitor

Done and dusted!

Also, you say that you want to future proof, unfortunately....in tech, there really is no such thing. Your 670 might not be able to play the lastest games on high settings in a years time - actually, i bet my house this is the case.

What to do: Watch videos on how to build computers, read stuff on these forums, ask questions, theres a lot of knowledgable people on here. Building computers is like lego for tech geeks. It's really quite simply once you've completed and understood your first build.

I wish to avoid Nvidia now , I play a lot of games but if it wont play shogun 2 or shogun 2 fall of the samurai right its a deal breaker.
I explained why in a previous post.
I think I will go with the 2 AMD 7950s instead.

I just meant , as future proof as possible really , I know it wont last me like 20 years lol.
I agree with you about the V ram.

Okay thank you.
I think I will buy the SDD later though in a few months, to bring down the price a bit.

Pity I cannot use the cpus stock fan, my corsair ram is 4 sticks of 4GB ram.
I wish I could just remove the stick of ram which goes beside the cpus cooler and that would solve my cooler problem..
Its not like I need all 16 gigs.
IS that possible ?

Save yourself 500 quid, this will slice through everything mate at 1080p.

Change the 670 then for a 7950 then if you main game is going to be Shogun.

How is the i5 for running a demanding game like shogun 2 and fraps all at once,
and I think Id rather go with one amd 7950 ,
Sorry but Nvidia cards just cannot seem to run shogun 2 without crashing.
Ill go copy my post about it and psot it here.

Cool, but I'd consider losing one of the 7950's first. You can always add another later on, and you really won't need two just yet. They are pretty good cards after all ;)

Other than that, have a think/research about whether you really need an I7.

Think I will loose one of them aswell if that is the case, along with the SDD.
I think I will stick with the i7 though, I just get a gut feeling I should.
I might go with one single 7970 though and cross fire her later.
yeah that would work.
I'll see what money is like when I go to the check out as I will be paying in euros.
