GeForce GTX 660 OEM Specifications released. Retail to be based on GK106?

Seriously? I was considering a 660ti as an upgrade to my GTX 460. If the 660 (non ti, i know) is no better than that's a whole steaming heap of FAIL right on Nvidia's lap.

So glad I paid the extra for a 670 now.

Hmm not as good as a 460 then? Might as well keep my 460 for a bit longer, was gona see what them new 660 non ti cards were like and seems very little motivation to move from a 460 to one which i thought might be around the same perf as a 560ti but cheaper but i guess not lol.

He said the 650 scored ~ the same as the 460, so theoretically the 660 should be higher.

Looking at 3DMark11 score, the GTX660 is going to be at least 20% slower than a GTX660TI.

This means it would be not as fast as an HD7870,but costs the same??

So what is Nvidia using to compete with the HD7850??

The GTX650 with the GK107 looks like it won't be powerful enough.

According to that chart, the 660TI scores more than my 680. I admit my 680 is stock but I find it hard to believe that a 660TI can hit more than a stock 680, so I would take those charts with a bucket of salt tbh.

May get flamed by AMD fans for this, but as the Nvidia brand is worth more in the GPU market than the ATi/AMD brand is, Nvidia don't have to be cheaper/equal on price/performance, they just have to be close enough that the premium/tax for going Nvidia isn't too high and deters customers.

I have just forked out for a HD7950 with an EK full cover block but I would have willingly paid the extra £10-15 to go 660Ti if the were any FC blocks available.

I know that the KFA 3GB 660Ti when pushed OC wise hard can rival a stock GTX 680. But a stock 660Ti 2GB does not rival a 680 unless overclocked to a crazy amount. But you can overclock a 680 too at which point they are a good 30-40% faster.

Remember guys don't feed it (you know what I'm talking about).

Given that the 660Ti is 7870 level, according to those chars a stock 660 will be even slower then a 7850. I don't know what's going on at Nvidia, they used to be really good at producing a decent performance product that the masses would just soak up.

So a couple of sites have prices up, and the non-ti 660 reference design seems to be £200. The OC'd ones even more.

Oh well. This gen I'll be hopping back over to the red side, or waiting to see what AMD's 8000 series brings.

I simply refuse to be bent over by nV and their extortionate pricing.
