Are nVidia cards still better than AMD for FSX?

Bought the MSI 7850 Power Edition Frozr IV for my 2 year old PC... i3-530@stock 4GB

I was thinking about getting a new generation nVidia 6 series but the 660ti was too expensive and I only have a 400W PSU with one PCI-E connector.

I only messed about with FSX for 30 minutes to test the card and unsurprisingly it didn't look too much better than my 6850 that I once had.

I know getting the correct settings in FSX and overclocking will reap more benefit. (If I OC the i3 even very slightly I can't even run my PC in an internet browser without it resetting!)

Off the top of my head fsx is cpu bound you already have a powerful gpu so i doubt a sidegrade to a 660ti would help very much. Try replacing the motherboard for a better o/c on the cpu?

That's correct a 660 wouldn't have done anything better.

My motherboard is the best overclocker there is... Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H

People have my specification (providing CPU batch is a good one) and get over 4.2 GHz on the same cooler as mine (Arctic Freezer 7 Pro. Rev 2)

I read many guides and followed advice but to no avail. I need a B&W method of how to set everything for my BIOS. I know the i3 is a good processor for this!
