Well, I've just been introduced to trap, or trapstep. I think it's fantastic :D. It's like all the good parts of hip-hop and dubstep/dnb combined, just without the vocals of hip-hop (something I've never liked).

It's very bouncy, seems like it could be perfect for dancefloors :D

If anyone else has other examples I'm really interested, as I'm going to start spinning this stuff. It works really well with drumstep :D

the 1st track you linked has annoying "uh uh yeah" carp in it. that's what i hate most about hiphop. also, its GOT lyrics (not very good ones either).

It doesn't have the same amount of lyrics as regular hip-hop. It's very different for me anyway :D

but that's the point of hiphop; it's not really about the beat/everything else, it's about the lyrics.

you need some good hiphop in your life to experience it; i can't vouch for what you've listened to, but i bet it's not as awesome as soulsides, gangstarr, public enemy, granville sessions etc ;)

I just don't like it :p

Oh yeah, have a look in Sound City dude, I need some help finding cheap CDJs :(

Sounds like babby's first experimentation with a 303. Crap. Like bad gangster rap from the 90s that tried to create a menacing atmosphere but sounded naff.

Haha, it is a very heavy song, not for the standard student clubber :p

Neither is some of the stuff I listen to to be fair :D

Edit: that's going in my drumstep mix, I actually like that :) a bit like Requiem by... erm... I can't actually remember.

This is heavier :p

Awesome stuff.

Well yeah if you want to go down that route i can offer heavier stuff than that ;)

Not to hijack the thread (we are having a conversation about music anyway) but this is awesome:

Let's throw some moombahton around just to confuse people further.

Everyone's so quick to categorise nowadays, its crazy! It's all just bass driven house music, at varying tempos REALLY :p. I'd even go so far as to say a lot of Kanye's later stuff is like this, if you removed half the lyrics. The beats or pretty heavy, nom sayin.
