I have wanted to upgrade my PC for a while now but could never justify it as my PC plays games mostly on medium-high settings anyway.

Recently on newer games I'm having to turn down settings some more which is starting to bug me as I want to start playing games all on high again.

I have a "spare" £600 to burn and I really want new componants now!

I will only need motherboard, ram, cpu and graphics card as I can salvage the rest of the things needed from my current PC.

I play games at 1920x1200 and would like to get the best possible stuff I can with this money.

I'd probably rather stick with an Nvidia graphics card and an option to go SLI later, but I am open to AMD cards too.

Many thanks!

What is your current spec, what wattage is your PSU? and do you have an SSD or anything like that?

I currently have:

CPU: Intel Q6600 2.4ghz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 285
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35C
Ram: 4gb OCZ PC 6400
PSU: Enermax Liberty 620w

I have no SSD but I might look to buy one of those in the future.

But do you have an aftermarket cpu cooler or not? You could always get one later if you want to keep the spec i made. Or if you can up your budget £25-30, we can fit you one in.

I have an aftermarket cooler currently, I can't quite remember which one it is though. Are they the same on the newer sockets, the way it fits?

+1 would change oem cpu to retail though and get a decent cpu cooler at a later date such as the k2 which is about 50 pounds.

If my cooler doesn't fit will the stock cooler actually be too bad to use?

Many thanks!

I got it about 2 years ago, it fits my LGA775, it's just 4 pins that push in and twist and pull to remove. If it's the same for the newer sockets then I guess it's fine.

No mate, i think that is just a 775skt stock cooler. You can just use the stock cooler on the 3570k until you can afford a new cooler.

It's not the stock cooler. I'm sure it's something like an artic freezer, but I have no record of this on my order history, and I'm not sure what model it is.

I've just looked at some message history, it's an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

I don't think it's the Rev 2 version and I can't find much information about the previous one, so I assume it's not going to be compatible.
