Fed up of SLI.

i haqent tried it with sli disabled but i will later

Cool let me know and I'll check what kind of numbers he is getting. It's possible I suppose you could be getting negative SLI scaling.

Shadows generally kills MMO game performance so if you lower those that may help as well.

hit and miss i find mate...

Well I'd go down the single card route if i was you. I noticed a much smoother performance when i ditched my xfire'd 6950's for a 7970. Once i started overclocking i got higher fps too.

Grab yourself a 7970>680>670 depending on your preference.

;)

same performance with 1 580 as it is with sli for me.

40 to 120 fps... mostly around 60/70fps depending on areas as they all different in performance for me...

That's good isn't it!?

You will get FPS drops in MMO's due to the huge amount of processing the CPU has to do and the way they're optimised.

not sure this is my first mmo, but no its not that great if nvidia said theres a sli profile in the beta drivers but it not working for me lol...

Ahh fair enough sorry. For a single 1080p screen a single 580 is more than enough for GW2. You'll be CPU limited in places with lots of activity hence drops to 40 ish. When your graphics cards can stretch their legs (when there's not a lot the CPU needs to do) you hit the 120's.

SLI probably won't give you that much benefit for this game (perhaps some when it's optimised further) but I would imagine now that any changes made will be refinements rather than jumps forward if you catch my drift.

I game at 5760*1080 and I'm not convinced that running 680 SLI makes any difference over a single 680 even at this extreme resolution :D.

Need to test properly but it shows that even a better CPU doesn't make much difference (I have an i7 3770k) to the trend of being CPU bound.

+1

I have not done much testing myself just some observations. What I have noticed is SLI/Crossfire is often only as good as its weakest link. The one thing that often sticks out is minimum framerates. Depending on what is running there is not much difference between using 1 or more gpus. This is not always the case but it does crop up from time to time.

Wow no way, there was an 80+% increase in my min frames in BF3 and Batman: AC when using 2 cards at that res. Are you talking about specific games like Guild Wars though?

right so think ive settled on a 670 i see its only got 2 dvi slots, i have 3 120hz monitors, what do i need to get all 3 to run in 120hz with 1 670 card???

cheers...
