Best graphics card for £50

BF3 for £50 eh i wish lol cant say where from (rules) but id go pre-owned on that budget, you will have to look around and compare on some benchmark sites, depending on what you can find.

I'd prefer new.

These are the official minimum requirements to run BF3

Graphic card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card, ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher.

Graphics card memory: 512 MB

I can imagine with these specs you wont be getting great results, here are two £50ish card that are over that spec in the OCUK shop

I'm playing Bf3 atm on a 8800GT at 1080P, everything on lowest but it runs really smooth and doesn't even look that bad tbh.

A 6670/GT630 is probably worse than an 8800GT so don't expect any different results if you buy one of those.

Yeah, I vote for a second hand 5850, most new cards for £60 will only be playable at perhaps just 30 FPS at all lowest settings with 1280x720 resolution- similar to a console (shudder).

If you want better, used would be best but not ideal. I'd save up.

I definitely want new, not used. I notice AMD have a new 28nm technology which is probably a lot more efficient than the 40nm technology. One review I read said it means 50W compared to 150W for the older boards. So it means buying new. So far I've found a 7750 at £80 but is there anything else within my budget? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-294-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1699 And is it any good?

No. The 7750/7770 cards aren't very good for the money in comparison to the last generation of cards.

Buying a new card for that money is a waste. You'd have to go 2nd hand to get something worthwhile, and even then it's borderline waste as the card won't last a real long time (because it'll be an old model).

460 is still a good card. and you realise that things wont really advance until the next gen of consoles next year? it will be fine till then, not max settings all the time. but still

trouble is 460 gets really hot (150W). One of my requirements is low power, the newer chips (28nm fabrication) seem much better (55W)
