Wondering if anyone knows the rules and obligations for Belgium hotels and power cuts? So far my family have had no power for 3 hours, although they are still allowing people to stay.

I think that's the problem. My sister just text me to ask me to check online as the staff don't seem to care.

3 hours? I'd wait it out a bit more. Annoying as hell I'd imagine, but other than getting some money back there isn't a great deal that can be done bar moving hotels.

No hot water after 3 hours? They work a pump system rather than flow?
Is it a very small hotel?

-edit, are you In Bruges?
If so go see the wondeful fairytale the place is, then get smacked out of your head and debate politics with a dwarf.
I'm with the vietnamese....

I think the OP needs to be a little more pragmatic 'What are he rules and obligations for power cuts' There is a power what can the hotel do, it's out of their control.

If your worried about your family and no emergency lighting, get off the interwebz and comfort your family

Go to Belgium... Sit in hotel and moan about not having any power....
Typical Brits. :p

Get out of the hotel, go see some sights, get drunk, come back to the hotel and go to sleep.
If there is still no power in the morning then go see the rep and kick Belgian arse

No lights, no emergency lights, no power, no hot water in the showers.

Do you stand outside when there's a power cut? No you wait on it coming back on. Not entirely sure what you expect a hotel to do, fire up a hospital grade generator they just happen to have lying about?

Sorry, needed context. They are in a budget hotel on a trading estate in the middle of nowhere near Spa for the F1. The showers are power showers run from a cold water feed, so I expect there's actually no showers at all.

I've not found anything online, so I assume they are just stuck with the choice of asking for a refund or going elsewhere. I'm not there, I'm at home.

going elsewhere, where they also have no power.................?

I doubt very much that the whole of southern Belgium is without power :p

I've not got a reply from my last text, so I assume they are asleep wherever they are.
