Car hunting is no longer doing my head in

Well nice, good price too. Congrats.

re the price I thought a soft top would be out of my price range until this one came up, slightly higher mileage than I would have wanted but not too bad

as the dealer said re the £3k price drop, he basically has 4-6 weeks to sell it or is probably stuck with it until April/May with the associated depreciation

It is still in manufacturers warranty so will prob extend that as it is much easier to do before it expires

It is having maid delaer service tomorrow and the that small car park dent sorted, only other thing we are waiting on a confirmation letter from Jag finance that all is clear their end so should be later in the week

Have you had a quote for the Jag warranty as they wanted just over 1K per year for the XFs.

couldnt get one at the age/mileage I needed for the money I had and tbh niot sure I have come out worse off

I do like a good handling car but I spend 80% of my miles on the M1, also I was a bit of a loony at times in the Cayman, it just makes you do it :p and am amazed I haven't got into bother at some point

Fair enough :)

I swear you'll be wanting a car for hooning in the not-too distant future though :D

These are still pretty chuckable, obviously not as much as a Cayman, but the power makes up for it IMO.

They sure don't feel like the weight they are... I just found it a bit dis-heartening after driving other more focused things that didn't seem like much of a downgrade in comfort.

I can understand the logic behind the swap for motorway use - great cruisers - I just don't think I'd be able to do it unless I could afford both.

My next road car purchase/lease (if I'm still in this country) is going to be either E92 M3 or Cayman. If I end up in CH, I don't think those will change - but if I go to US, it's going to have to be Z06

What people want from cars, changes with time

Right now, he clearly wants a good powerful cruiser

OK so when your blaring round corners at 7/10 tenth's or more this might not be as good

But, if thats not the priority right now, he's got a soft top, + a great noise and looks + comfort + that stonking 500hp supercharged V8, i know i'd much rather one of these than a Cayman

And i'm sure the cars handling is also perfectly fine, for driving around on most roads, all these great handling cars only ever seem to come into there own when being pushed moderately hard in magazine tests and most people dont really drive like that, so a lot of the benefit from this handling is lost on everyday mortals driving to the road conditions rather than the cars ability

The benefits of a soft top, comfortable ride, great sounding V8 and 500hp that shoves you right back in the seat, can be felt every time you turn the key and start moving

For some thats not enough, for others thats more than enough to put a big :) on the face, i'm in the latter camp, I like the Cayman, but i think i'd get more smiles from a 500hp great sounding V8, than i would from great handling which is itself is a very subjective thing.

Thats good, might be worth asking about a service plan as well as I do that on mine and they give a discount of about 10% and intrest free.

How much is a warranty and service plan combined? It's milage dependent or something I assume?

Thanks.

Picked it up today and all is great, the noise is amazing and it just feels real quality

hopefully when I stop playing silly buggers every time I pull off the 10mpg I am averaging will impove
