playbook worth a punt for teenage daughter ?

Do these take SD cards?

Nope they dont, dont see the point of having an sd card if you have a 32gb or 64gb version. More than enough space and they are easily connectable to a pc or laptop if you want to move your stuff off the playbook to a pc/laptop.

Yeah that's why I asked. If they had an SD card slot then there's no point in getting anything other than the 16GB. But without one 64GB is fine.

After spending weeks umming and ahhing over what android tablet to get, I've decided to just grab one of these. All I ever do on my phone at home is browse the web and use messenger, and the playbook is ideal.

When has 64GB ever been enough for storage nowadays :).

The more the better - SD Slots should be standard issue!

However at this price I can't complain.

I agree SD cards should be standard. But without 64gb is ok.

Sharingan, I've tried 3 demo Nexus 7 units and all 3 had issues, and the Nexus 7 thread is full of people with problems, so I've just lost faith in it. And 16gbs just isn't enough space.

So I was faced with a £200 device that doesn't have enough space that is likely to need returning, all for browsing the web and IMing. It just didn't stack up. So I've decided to get a playbook for half the price, and put the money saved towards a Windows 8 tablet.

Picked up a 64GB today - it's really nice. Great screen, great browser, really nicely built. Very pleased with it for £129. Just keep your hand off the top left corner - It will kill your wireless signal!

Picked up a 64gb yesterday too. Browser and media player are ace, and the build quality is phenominal. All I wanted it for so I'm happy :)

I am a BB9900 user, and the bridging aspect is ace, too. Like that a lot. Excited for BB10 now :)

What's the browser performance like on these?

My mum is getting frustrated by her TouchPad running WebOS, the browser is just painful to use at times. Soo I'm thinking the solution to the problem is either a BlackBerry PlayBook or a Nexus 7.

What's the browser performance like on these? in terms of what? I find the browser really good, flash support, tabs and the screen makes watch youtube really enjoyable.

In terms of responsiveness especially where there is a lot of JavaScript. I'll just go try one out in a shop using her favourite web sites and see how it goes.
