7950 TF3 overclock on stock voltage

What is the max core oc you can get with your default core voltage?

1.70 v ( stock) gives you 1125/ 1575 on AMD Catalyst, which i've had for the past 2 months.

but if you dial in 1229/ 1675 on Trixx, i dont think stock volts is any good any more, so i upped mine to 1.193..... i.e it wouldn't accept those higher figures with 1.7v any more

1.7 volts, that's not right.

My default is 1.093v and only tried up to 1050 core but it was happy.

Gonna try to get to 1100 on default.

Lol I really think my previous card (Powercolor) was not healthy from the off.

that's a typo error sorry, because if you read my earlier posts/ my other thread, i've been saying exactly the same as you all day..... keep your hair on, mine is on 1.193v up from 1.17v

by the way, you dont know that much either.... because 1.25 might be too high on air as well..... because mine blew from 1.2 to 1.25v and it blew first thing in the morning. i mentioned 1.25 as being too high earlier on today, or at least needing a thorough testing first.

but to be really careful i would start to worry as soon as i got to about 1.2v, because i cant be sure when my last card started this sparking sound, simply because i OCd last time with the rig about 10ft away, but today was ok because i had my head right inside the pc case... i heard nothing, not even coil whine.

Yes, that's it Mal :D

I noticed you edited your post - probably wise you wouldn't want to be suspended again would you?

I think the general consensus from the thread where you fried your old card was that you weren't listening to people who were trying to help (myself, Dave and Greg et al.) and it backfired.

It worries me when you're giving out overclocking advice which involves voltages that's all. I don't know the safe numbers on 7970's as I don't own one but I'm wincing every time you give advice on the matter :(
