Will IvyBridge 1155 get any 6 core CPUs ?

Looks like I am going to go 3770k IvyBridge on a Z77 1155 motherboard.

I decided on this over the SandyBridge-E 2011 socket and boards as the 1156 is newer and hopefully there will be a bit more support and new stuff even when Hassal comes along as there was with X-58 when Ivy / Sandy turned up.

Does anyone have any views on whether Intel will release a 6 core CPU on 1156 Ivy or do you think it will be skipped ?

You mean 1155 (You said 1156 twice)

Socket 2011 is newer than 1155, albeit Z77 is newer than X79 (When IB-E turns up, I'd expect/assume there would be a newer chipset on 2011)

Can't imagine Intel releasing hex cores to 1155, due to that being a privilege for the enthusiast platform.

I'm not sure what support of X58 you're on about when Ivy/Sandy turned up? As far as I know after they got Gulftown that was it, and that was before Ivy/Sandy.

Also can't imagine 1155 getting anything that's game changing after Haswell, maybe a few different SKU's.
