More coolant woes

Following on from the coolant issues a while back when the waterpump was changed on my MK5 Golf GTi in Dec 2011, I now have a strange issue. Basically the car seems to loose coolant when not being driven. I commute by the tube now so the number of miles I am doing is considerably less than before and the car is not driven for several days at a time. I topped up the coolant on Friday last week to touch the max line, started the car this morning to find a 'STOP check coolant' on the dashboard. I checked - bottle is empty.

It does not seem to be all over the drive either. The car was pressure tested for several hours in March sometime and they couldn't find any coolant leaking. I am wondering if it is evaporating from the bottle with a dodgy cap? There is probably 2-300 ml in the bottle, does seem like a lot to evaporate. Any ideas?

I am going to grab another bottle of G12 plus plus and a new bottle cap and see if that helps. Any ideas would be appreciated.

My Leon Cupra R was pressure tested on no less than 3 occasions by three different garages, all of whom told me that they could find no leak.

I found it last night (after nearly 3 years) by chance when the secondary waterpump failed (meaning the engine bay was quiet after turning the engine off), and found a very slight hissing from one of the feeds to the turbo!

In short, don't trust what a garage says, and don't necessarily trust a pressure test!

Must be a slow leak somewhere.

Might be worth doing a sniff test? Although if the car isn't being driven then it's a bit strange.

Top it up and keep an eye on the level for a few days before you start it.
