question please:

2 car family - mine and the wife's

I have my own insurance policy as does my wife, and I'm a named driver on her policy

I have protected no claims on my policy - she does not

If I were to have a crash in her car with me driving - what happens to my "no claims"?

and vice versa - if she was to have a crash in my car ?

thanks

You would claim for the repair costs using her policy because you're entitled to as a named driver. Her ncb would suffer

ah ok - I see - so its policy/car dependant - cheers

so if she crashes my car - both our policies would suffer on renewal (as a claim would have been made) - but neither she or I would loose our no claims

but if either I or she crashes her car - both our policies would suffer on renewal AND she would loose her no claims ...

If she crashed your car and was a named driver on the fully comp policy, its would be a claim of your policy.

Your ncb would stay intact but you'd have to declare the accident next year and you'd still get shafted

Please forgive me for intruding and slightly derailing this thread but my OH and I and in exactly the same boat as the OP in reference to insurance.

After reading this - is there actually any point in "protecting" your NCB?

It's pretty much a con, you have to give the details of any claims so your insurance will go up anyway, irrespective of ncd "protection".
