What a great contribution to the thread.
I have a bad back from poor posture as I spend a lot of my day working in front of the PC. I have spent hundreds on physio etc to get my spine mobile again, the pain can be very restrictive, I stopped playing football and running at one point which turns out to be one of the worst things I could have done.
A chair like the ones discussed in this thread would be a worthwhile investment for someone spending so much time in front of their PC.
When i see people say stuff like that it boggles my mind, it really does, i spend 8 hours at work mon-friday in a chair in front of my computer, plus when i get home i don't have much else to do so i spend another 3-4 hours in front of my computer, then at the weekend i spend probably 8-10 hours Saturday and Sunday in front of my computer, and you know what? i don't have a bad back after 15+ years and i have a crappy chair both at work and at home, my sitting posture is pretty bad.
I think theirs contributions to your bad back that you are not factoring in and are blaming it solely on one thing which i don't think is correct, it could be you are over weight for your size, had a previous injury you have forgot about, or are just have a predisposition to having a bad back to begin with, either way i dont think a £1k chair will sort your problems only "mask" them at best, you need to change your lifestyle, do some squats, dead lifts and hyper extenstions to strenghten that weak back of yours, £1k will probably near enough cover you for 5-6 years gym membership instead
