Find a picture of her hand next to an object you can find and measure, take into account distance from the object and scalability to the size of said object. You can get a rough guess from it.

Well the usual procedure is to buy the ring and then you go back to have it changed to the correct size if you don't know it. Even if you did find some cunning way to measure it then there is no guarantee it would fit.

Ooh, if there's a special occasion coming up buy her a cheap ring as a present, then if it doesn't fit you can be like "oh noes, let's get one that fits!" And bang, you have your sample. If it fits first time: win.

Only really works if you're willing to wait a bit, because buying her a ring out of the blue for no reason might be a bit suspicious.
