I've got a pretty new LG smart TV and the Lovefilm app refuses to work, it will not recognise through their website as a device so I cant show any films, however it "works" on my PS3 and its in my devices list on the Lovefilm site, I say "works" because its slow as **** clunky and just crap compared to say Netflix, which works flawlessly on my tv/ps3 whatever, has it always been this way or am I doing something wrong?

I had lovefilm about 12 months ago, the streaming service was terrible.

The Netflix one on the other hand has fairly good picture quality when it goes into HD mode, just a shame it's not surround sound too

Out of the two Netflix edges it for me because the streaming quality is much better, however both need more content.

What software version is your tv running? I've had my LG two weeks now (50PM670T) and Lovefilm didn't work for me until the second or third update. Mine's on version 04.00.15 and the apps work well now, although as said Lovefilm could do with more content.

IIRC the last update didn't prompt me to install it when the tv was switched on but was available from the settings menu.

It's on 04.01.63 atm

I honestly find Lovefilm better for it's content but the quality of service they offer is shocking, it's a damn shame :(

Oh and to add to my SMART tv woes, for some reason the latest update removed the web browser?! :/

Hmm, not sure what to suggest. For me Lovefilm buffers for around 5secs at the start of a film and then it's fine for the rest. Same on my PS3. Might be worth posting in Networks? Hope you get it sorted :)

Lovefilm cold-called me asking if I was interested in taking out a subscription. I promptly informed them that I already had one, but I was going to cancel it because they clearly were not capable of good customer service if they had no idea who their customers were.

Ive tried both and stuck with Netlix though i use unblockus to connect to the US version, plenty of content and lots in HD and 5.1. ...... cant complain.

Been thinking about taking one or the other but would like to know if these can be integrated into WMC, well the apps for them?

There are apps for both in WMC, think its like £7 for the love film app which is 3rd party not sure about the netflix one.

I found the problem with lovefilm steaming service was the content was shocking. Plenty of absolute dross to watch but for the price sky movies would have been better. Shame really as I'm really willing these services to take off.

I've just had a similar problem with my LG smart tv and lovefilm.
I got it working again by going to my lovefilm account on their website and removing the LG tv from my list of devices.
Next login on your tv and hey presto...It works!

Hope it helps

I honestly don't see what the fuss is with Lovefilm, Netflix et all. They don't seem to have much available, and the stuff they do seem to have you can buy on a DVD. I certainly don't see the point of subscribing to any of them. Granted, I have the same issues with Sky. Seems like a total waste of money to me that would be better spent elsewhere.

If these companies started showing films that were actually on at the cinema, I might be more tempted, but for the very limited (from what I've seen) catalogue, I just don't get the attraction.

So far happy with the service from lovefilm, but then I mainly watch blu-ray films and a small amount streaming stuff. This year alone I've seen about 170 films on the service.

lovefilm saves me money by not having to purchase crap films that you thought looked good.
