switchable ati drivers

AMD doesn't officially support (or something to that description) switchable graphics drivers, hence you can only get official drivers from manufacturer/oem support sites. In most cases, you are stuck with the launch driver and that's it. No updates at all.

However, this site has figured out how to make a generic switchable driver and is pretty on the ball with keeping them upto date with. new catalyst releases. Only downside is because these aren't official, they will only work if you disable driver signing (all explained on the site)

Ahhh, this fixes the Enduro debacle? At least unofficially?

12.6 legacy drivers seem to be the latest and they are offical ati ones.

ati on power
intel on battery

hope that helps someone else.

I have to get my 5470/ intel hd drivers from the hp website for my hp dv3 4100sa; its a pain in the ass. They're not very up to date, I think the AMD part of it is from 2011. One installer for both parts. If I try to install new drivers for 5470m from AMD it says it cant find/doesn't recognise my hardware. Mine is manually switchable in windows and auto switches when on battery only etc. No biosing.

I had a laptop with an integrated 4250 and a discrete 5470, and the laptop had a switch to swap between both. It worked fine with the official latest AMD drivers, but it's probably because both GPUs were from AMD.

I now have a laptop with an integrated 6620G and a 7450M, and the drivers either allow the GPUs to work together or work seperately depending on what profile I've set the application on/if it's running on battery without doing anything.

Not Nvidia Optimus level yet but it's getting there...

EDIT: Updated from 12.3 to 12.8, I'm suprised, the 7450M now fully switches off when not in use! Before it use to stay on sapping power...

EDIT 2: Rolled back to 12.3. Huge memory leaks with Firefox on 12.8.
