Woah loaded question ;)

Windows 8. It's the direction MS are heading. It's going to be a steal at £25 to upgrade. More importantly I don't think it will be too long before there's a lot of apps that will make it more worthwhile.

More to the point what do your parents think of Windows 8?

W8, will be excellent for parents computers and will leave you with a lot less hassle. It has a bunch of great dpfeatures that make support for parents far easier. Including the supyncing and refresh features. And one you teach them for an hour it is easy to use.

Unless you want your parents to be confused like this guy:

Windows 7.

Personally I find that video a joke!! This guy is obviously trying to troll windows 8 by using his dad as an example.

I installed windows 8 and introduced it to my parents just fine! They prefer it 100x more than that of windows 7.

It is way easier to go about and finding your way to do the most simple stuff that most people at that age do.

I personally prefer windows 7 to do my stuff, but for someone who is a new user it is much easier to teach and learn.

I really don't believe this post for a second.

I can't help think that, for new users, and older people too, Windows 8 apps might be all they need and it is very easy to just click the icons for mail, browser etc. A few straightforward games like card games added would probably do. New users can get used to that before venturing onto the scary desktop.

Well my mum is not computer savy. My SSD died at one point and just put the Windows 8 Consumer preview on the PC until I got a replacement SSD.

My Mum used the PC when I was out and I had not shown her how to use Windows 8, I had done with Windows XP and 7 previously. She was able to use it just fine and actually found it easier to use, the only annoyance was not finding Shut Down straight away so she just used the pwoer button on the PC.

I use Windows 8 on my work laptop these days and its great. I really don't understand why people are so hung up on Metro. I just use it like a full screen start menu and spend most time in the desktop with maybe the odd Metro app for things like the news etc.

I stuck W8 CP on my mum's PC during a recent overhaul and she hated it (coming from XP). It was such an issue I went out and bought W7 for her.

I'll be sticking with 7 as well. 8 looks terrible to me.
