Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (PC) - Hints & Tips

EDIT: Ah you mean later in the game.

No I mean if you don't want to be a massive whimp. :p

I hate killing things with just arrows, it just feels like cheating. I try and avoid doing it as much as possible, the only thing I'll always use it for is the Drake Sword as cutting off the tail with melee is either tedious (trying to hit it from a safe spot) or bloody difficult (roll past the dragon when he drops down onto the bridge).

That and arrows do pathetic damage and I like to kill things before I die of old age.

Can I just ask how you get help from phantom NPCs? I've never seen a summon spot so far. I was stuck on the iron golem for ages and apparently I could've had some help but the spot where an npc can be summoned never showed up for me.

The point of a "Guide" is to show people how to do stuff without taking damage and by far the easiest way is bow/arrow/bombs. You take no damage and are at no risk of doing so.

Can easily just put a strategy in for each combat type, remember some people are pure archers, some are pure melee, some are hybrid melee/archer and pure mages etc.

Editing this guide is a nightmare from the Steam overlay, never have I seen such a **** web browser in all of my life.

The one thing I love about these games is how rewarding it is to kill a boss after struggling on it for some time.

& I hate the unfairness sometimes too.. just after killing the gargoyles I was heading back to the 'liar' or whatever, the dude who you free up some stairs, I died cause I used all my flasks on the gargoyle boss, dropped 14k souls on death, was like np shouldn't be to hard to get back.. then that undead knight or whatever up the stairs just after you get off the lift somehow manages to do like a counterattack on me so it left me on 1/4 of my health, ran back, healed got in combat again and he backstabs me and I die, lost all 14k souls.

Annoying as hell how a mob you can easily dispatch has now become a super warrior or something.

They are the Elite Balder Knights, their equipment (rapier and buckler) is enough to let you know they are skillfull warriors rather than brute force like the rest, they can and will parry you (although its incredibly easy to tell when they parry as they hold their bucklers up), and most enemies can backstab you. This is a game where the enemies can do everything you can do, those weren't unfair deaths mate. :p

How did you die on the way back from the Gargoyles?

This, there are actually several mobs which will parry you, however they always block and wait for you to attack, they aren't capable of doing it reactively.
