Guild Wars 2

Well to me it would seem to be better to join a guild with structure, events to help achieve progression rather than joining some big random pug due to a funny name.

Just my penny's worth.

I have that on my main guild thanks, then I can be in guilds which are fun to be in rather than full of stuck up elitists.

Im not having too many problems getting through several dungeon runs everyday if I want to, just a better LFG system would be nice.

Progression wise, all progression in this game is solo. The only thing you need a guild / other people for is dungeons.

I find the dungeons really enjoyable. It's one of the more challenging aspects of the game from what I've seen, and once you have done a few you get the hang of not dying. I seriously hope ArenaNet don't make them easier like most people want them to. If they really want to though, only make the story mode easier, and leave me with my explorable mode.

Exactly. But I'm guessing that too many people will whinge, moan and cry, and then every dungeon will be doable blindfolded with your arms tied behind your back.

Im annoyed, never bothered with crafting early on or looting much. So im level 41 now, realise i should craft to get gear etc, but now i dont have the low level mats etc to move on :( i dont mind farming the low level nodes etc but like needing jute scraps and stuff u get from killing mobs is a major wall :( dunno what to do as i cba to kill those mobs specially as ur lvl gets downgraded so u cant just easily farm them. Trading post aint gonna happen because i dont have much funds as it is, and it seems hard to make money on ere.

Crafting is nice, it makes stuff like this:

I have the pendant, ring and earing of those three sets kept on me and swap them out as required.

How much magic find do the noble runes have? You could just use superior runes of the traveler which are frankly pretty common.

The MF on both is the same at +50m, but the Noble runes have + 50 Power instead of +50 vitality, plus a 5% chance of summoning a drakehound on hit instead of 5% movement bonus (which is useless with permanent swiftness).

720 tokens is pretty steep for the difference imo, I suppose it depends how hard you would want to min max a magic find set.

Killed my first Dragon this evening!

Killed frame rate pretty heavily as expected due to the large amount of people there. I'm running a i5 2500k @ 4.5 with a MSI 7970 Lightning. As several other people out there are experiencing my GPU usage with GW2 can be a bit iffy and I noticed during the battle that it dropped right off. Not surprising really the CPU must have been getting hammered with all the encounter calculations going on.

The people saying play spvp...

If I wanted small scale PvP I'll play Dota, Starcraft or Counterstrike, I don't play MMOs for that. Even if I did want that in an MMO, GW1 did PvP much better than GW2 from everything that I've seen so far.

P

Jesus. Still here moaning about this game. Not really a very constructive use of an evening. I am a bit over your constant moaning, and I'm sure that I can't be the only one.

Guy who makes the best BF videos ever now made a GW2 video.

i love this hes so funny!

hes a really famous youtuber

This really is a digusting thread isn't it, inbetween inter guild bickering it's full of a load of jumped up fanbois posting some pretty disgusting things when someone posts to say they've completed the game and are moving on.

Go and look back through my posting history and you'll find it is near universal praise of GW2, so the 'constant moaning' line is just comical.

Anyway No1Newts:

The main point of my post was that GW2 has a lot less options for PvP than GW1, if you had ever played GW1 at all you'd be able to see this fact perfectly clearly for yourself, there are a lot less. Period.

So probably a wise idea to drop the whole 'You're an idiot for not knowing this' line when you don't seem to know a whole lot yourself.

I still think, my biggest issue is respawn times.. I kill one mob, turn around to kill the next, and the first reappears behind me.. its very frustrating, especially for a clothy..

I didn't call you an idiot, I merely asked you to validate what you said. You come in, drop a complaint then run, it's hardly a debate that way. Which you still haven't done without resorting to the age old "you're all fanbois" tired line.

With the pvp they have dropped some of the differing small scale options, consolidated that (spvp) and replaced variations with wvw. Something so vast, incorporating so much in regards to what you can do IMO it hardly indicates a downgrading of pvp. Though each to their own.

Something I would like to see, is the ability to Dismantle a siege weapon when you have finished with it and recover a portion of coin, or better still a portion , say 50% of the supply used to build it. I just feel so wasteful when I've finished with a catapult and then its just sat there in the middle of a field or on a hill, if I could dismantle and recoup 50% of the supply, I could then use that supply elsewhere.

something i would like to see if the ability to

use the cannons
use the oil
repair the door from the inside

without beeing aoe to death from people who cant likely see you, its all a bit pointless if you cant actually defend a tower/keep

The main point of my post was that GW2 has a lot less options for PvP than GW1
I see where your coming from.

theres a lot less options when it comes to skills and abilities.

everyone is forced into the same build , everyone has the exact same skills and abilities.

in GW there was a huge choice of abilities you could pick from

That one actually reminded me of daoc, I remember when daoc first came out and you used to be able to stand inside the keep and AoE the door and hit the people stood on the other side of the door. I wondered if it would work in GW2 too the other night so tried it out and found that it did

This game is starting to wear a little bit thin.

Go to zone, complete zone 100%, move onto the next zone. Rinse and repeat.

The Event system while fun becomes boring also, "Kill this huge boss" OK!! sounds awesome!........10 mins later he's respawned....starting to see a pattern here. They really should have mixed it up a little and not relied upon the event system as a 1 trick pony.

Combat is great fun until you master it and your class, then you can take couple of veterans and multiple mobs at the same time kill them all and not loose any health. Where is the challenge?

I did AC a few times and all of the runs we cleared the bosses 1st try. There is some incredibly stupid mechanics like the bosses just randomly 1 shotting people because they can and not because of any other reason.

And i'm sorry to say but the trinity isn't dead, people are still asking for tanks and healing classes for certain dungeons. So the people sold by the marketing should be ashamed.

When i get to max level all i can look forward to be doing is exploiting the mini events (Just like most of the 80s) to maximise the amount of karma/gold per hour i'll be getting and that hardly seems like a legitimate way to play a game. The vast majority of 80's who aren't pvp'ing are afk botting or afking at the fastest reseting mini event and just farming karm/gold, i've seen packs of them, like hyena's, just stood there spamming skills onto the ground when nothing is there and then the event starts and its over within seconds, just for the same to be repeated.

Then you have everybody trying to find ways to exploit in the game, the 1-400 cooking quick 10 level guide is clearly exploiting as they keep telling you to do it before its fixed. Which it has been.

Level 80's afk botting, exploiting the fast reseting mini events, harvesting dupes, trading post exploiting, karma vendor exploits etc etc

An exploit (from the verb to exploit, in the meaning of using something to one’s own advantage) is a piece of software, a chunk of data, or sequence of commands that takes advantage of a bug, glitch or vulnerability in order to cause unintended or unanticipated behaviour to occur on computer software

This is exactly what people are doing.

It almost seems as though this game has tons of possible exploits, which i'm not used to in MMO's.

WvWvW is just a MASSIVE zerg, with no organisation. You very rarely get good fights and if this is the extent of there "here is what you do at 80" then oh dear.

Strangely though, overall its a great game, i would almost certainly recommend it to other gamers to play. Just a shame that at the moment the casual approach to exploiting and the freely available information on how to exploit, with the lack of end game content and easy combat is ruining the experience for me.

:(

I can understand this point of view.

I think people who have powerplayed the game will ultimately have to seek another game until the exploits are patched and the game balances out.

MOP will be coming along soon and those that have powerlevelled in this game will be going to level their toon to 90 in that game which might make this game more enjoyable.
