Guild Wars 2

The people saying play spvp...

If I wanted small scale PvP I'll play Dota, Starcraft or Counterstrike, I don't play MMOs for that. Even if I did want that in an MMO, GW1 did PvP much better than GW2 from everything that I've seen so far.

I've just started playing the original Guild Wars again, thought it would be good to get familiar with the story and the world in general again before I pick up GW2 (waiting for a deal).

One thing I always liked was the fact I didn't need to group and could pick a few NPCs from town to tag along for a mission, is this feature still present in GW2 or is it not needed now?

Thing is didn't every one know from day one the pve would play second fiddle to the pvp? If you didn't realise this you either read nothing about the game or were kidding yourself all along.

Where have you got this impression from?

The game has a much stronger focus on PvE than GW1, and it has a lot, LOT less PvP options than GW1.

Mother of god, just spend 20min doing a quest. Near the end...I hope that was end >_> , I walked out of bounds and as soon as I saw the message tried to run back into the zone but was ported out before I could go back, So i have to do that 20min quest again ARGH

I find the dungeons really enjoyable. It's one of the more challenging aspects of the game from what I've seen, and once you have done a few you get the hang of not dying. I seriously hope ArenaNet don't make them easier like most people want them to. If they really want to though, only make the story mode easier, and leave me with my explorable mode.

And now after 10min of doing same quest again npc is bugged and wont blow up a wall to let me through and do the second half -_-

Edit: trying to report bug but the bug reported itself is bugged

Really? (wish I had an arched eyebrow smily for this)

Care to explain with some facts to back it up?

P

To be honest just quit and come back later .(or not as you see fit) you clearly dislike the game.

Save your own skin from your fingers from typing hate and save my eyes the anguish of reading it. :) because when you start comparing non mmo pvp to mmo pvp you are clearly not interested or just missing the point, good luck in the next game though (I do genuinely mean that, no sarcasm intended)

Dynamic events have been a huge selling point for GW2, personal story too, less so. Both predominantly PvE features.

Re: GW1 PvP / GW2.

GW1 PvP had more modes, although a lot of work has obviously gone into WvW.

You really have to be joking if you think PvE is some kind of afterthought though.

Not an afterthought by any means but it has in no way, shape or form been made even remotely compatible to pvp in its importance. It's like saying wow sucks because the pvp is bad. It's measuring the game against its weaker aspect.

Dynamic events, story etc are levelling tools (though I accept incorporated at endgame to some extent) so comparing it to gw1 you are comparing it to the whole companions, story etc that gw1 used. They are different but equally vast in their own right and to say the game is more pve because of its levelling components is a little niave. Pve we are talking about and what it nav was endgame (the dungeons etc which Utnac said were poor) of course this is lacking, the endgame is primarily pvp. It is no wow which is primarily pve with raids etc with pvp tagged on, so if you are expecting a string pve performance I have no doubt you are disappointed but I'm shocked you are disappointed if you knew anything about Guild Wars.

Im annoyed, never bothered with crafting early on or looting much. So im level 41 now, realise i should craft to get gear etc, but now i dont have the low level mats etc to move on :( i dont mind farming the low level nodes etc but like needing jute scraps and stuff u get from killing mobs is a major wall :( dunno what to do as i cba to kill those mobs specially as ur lvl gets downgraded so u cant just easily farm them. Trading post aint gonna happen because i dont have much funds as it is, and it seems hard to make money on ere.

Played the game over 9 hours today, Far too say i'm very addicted and loving it aswell!. Only downside was when i was fighting the dragon i didn't deal enough damage to get the chest :( was down to FPS lag though could hardly move!. Definitely due an upgrade on the motherboard & cpu!

From what I've seen the PvE side of the game has been a bigger selling point than the PvP side. Saying that they have never pushed the "Endgame" from what I've read though they do need to flesh it out more. I've no idea how much Zhaitan is referenced through the later leveling game (I'm only 26 on my main, and 11 on my alt) but if they can drop the other Elder Dragons in a decent time-frame, say 3/4 months between each there is no reason it can't have a fully fleshed out endgame comparable to other MMO's, prior to an expansion. Who knows if that is the plan though.
