My main prob is I cannot stick with one char :p I keep swapping around to see what other race starting zones look like and also to try out new classes.

I really need to focus on one char ! So far my fav has been a Charr Thief :D But I think I want to try out a warrior tho. Maybe I should just stick to my Thief though and get a least one of my toons past level 12 haha.

The starting zones are great now but I think someone mentioned it here. Them starting areas are going to be horrible in a few months when there are not as many people playing new chars.

I've managed to stick with my Necro (31 now :D) but I'm always tempted to try new classes. Just want to get one to a good level.

May try and convince Guildies to run first dungeon with me tonight :)

Question. If people join me in a lower level dungeon from high level do they scale down or must I find people my level?

They will scale down to the level of the dungeon, although they will be a bit stronger due to gear.

I think i spoilt the game for myself.

I got to 80 in under a week and now I have no drive to play it anymore. :(

I got to 80 before the game was "officially" released and although I was glad of a little break from it I'm back playing loads and enjoying it.

Getting the mats together to make an exotic set and doing dungeons etc.

Not tried WvWvW or SPvP yet.

I'm already starting to grow bored with this game, and I only have a single character up to lvl 25. I've only really been playing PvE so far, but that's a big part of MMO's for me. I love the social aspect of grouping up to complete challenges... PvP is an end-game activity for me, but I'm not sure if I'll actually reach end game in GW2. It lacks any kind of social interaction, no one talks to each other or forms groups, there's no need to. And so far I haven't seen any group dungeon content, at all. The PvE side so far is just running around completing zones in single player mode. I usually love playing a healer class, joining a guild and then going for the most difficult content asap. But I don't really see the point in GW2. The exploration part is great, but it soon gets boring when you have no one to do it with. I may as well be playing offline tbh, it just doen't feel like an MMO at all.

Strange that as my experiance has been the total opposite, I've been having random conversations with all sorts of people from knocking out a series of DE's with a group of 10 in Queensdale to chatting with 2 other guys attempting to to do the Loreclaw Expanse jumping puzzle last night on an overflow server, to helping someone find that elusive PoI in the NE corner of Metrica Province.

Sometimes all it takes is 1 person to start something off in /s or/m and you would be surprised at how much people want to talk its just other, more succesful MMO's, have beaten the social aspect out of people so they are almost scared to say anything in public.

...I'm now rocking full level 80 exotics and have since switched to a condition based DW setup using sword/sword and longbow.

25 stacks of bleed hitting for 114 dmg a tick drops anything very very quickly. Far faster than Greatsword's burst.

Is that the best combination of weapons you've found so far ?

I got 60 on my Warrior last night and I can't decide what weapons to use. I've tried them all but played mostly with Greatsword / Rifle. I like the greatsword mainly because of the dmg and mobility; rifle for bleeds and kiting.
I'm tempted to switch to sword&axe / Longbow for DoT&AoE / kiting AoE...
You probably tried more combinations (being 80), what's your imput on it ? How did you spread your Traits points ? (any advice ?)

Cheers

I've tried them all pretty much.

Axe/Axe offers great AoE direct damage, GS is great damage/mobility and sword/axe offers good aoe damage and condition damage.

I prefer the use of sword/sword though as it offers good mobility (along with utility skills) and it's very easy to ramp up bleed stacks.

Coupled with my gear choice (rampagers, power/precision/condition damage) I find myself doing great direct damage and ridiculous bleed damage. I do occasionally swap out longbow for rifle for single target boss fights, but the group utility offered by longbow is awesome.

Specially adrenaline skill + number 3 for AoE might buffs :)

Someone in my guild said there's not much to do at lvl 80 PVE wise, a couple of extra dungeons + an repeatable event area? Is this true?
Its early days as well don't forget. I realise the whole "its been released so should be finished" argument, but it never really applies to MMOs..

How are people's characters at such high levels? :p I have been playing quite a lot (for me), and just at level twenty. People that have got to level eighty... Have you been doing nothing else since the game came out?
Yeah, I figure that too. I can't play often and I have two chars one level 9, the other 14. 80 is going to take me months :).

I've started to get frustrated at the fact that I'm ALWAYS levelled down for the zone I'm in. I'm never in an area for the level I actually am. As a result, I'm going to focus less on getting zone completion and go straight for my main story objectives. That tends to let me actually play at my current level. 50+ hours now and lv 38

Level 38 right now, don't play every day but every other day me and mrs pop on for 3-4 hours to 100% an area then take a break again. It's good steady gaming with no stupid 'having to be online to raid' and no rush to level as nothing to pay for. I bought a load of gems with my trade profits and expanded the bank so essentially the whole game is completely free, there's nothing you need to pay for.

Being your true level really doesn't make much difference at all, I could never leave a map uncompleted. :p

Little tip for those desperate for tier 6 crafting materials.

Use the mystic forge :)

Take 250 tier 5, 1 tier 6, 5 philosophers stones, 5 piles of crystaline dust.

You get 10-50 tier 6.

Now going by TP prices, 250 mithril ore costs about 60 silver, 5 crystaline dust is 6 silver.

Orichalcum Ore sells for 4s a piece. need 17 or more Ore to make a profit :)

Last stack I did I got 32 Ore :)

You can do the same for fine materials also, but they only require 50 of the lower tier to transmute.

I have to say I have not really touched the crafting at all. On my current char I have cooking which seems useful but all the other stuff just seems like hassle and very grindy. At the moment I'm making a load of money on the TP selling all the stuff I gather :) I think I'm just going to stick to gathering stuff and selling it while it still fetches a bit of a premium (like vials of weak blood :p ) Then I might look at crafting a bit later down the line.

But I'm finding it cheaper to buy equipment from the TP (at low levels) than it is to craft stuff.

i haven't paid any attention to what drops what so don't know where to get the mats.

I think i'll sell as well.

Seen a post earlier saying to save karma for items at end game is this a good idea or just use away at each level?

Is the best sword in the game BOA or sellable on the auctions? If it's sellable on auctions I'll just keep on selling stuff and buy every bit of gear I need at end game.
